Do any of you travel with valuable possessions, like good china or good crystal? We do not. It's Corelle, stoneware, and/or plastic, paper. I would be afraid of it breaking, no matter how carefully I secured it. Or jewelry? I bring my good jewelry, what little there is of it, but I hide it. I rarely wear it. I'm talking an extended trip here - for a weekend or a couple of weeks, the jewels stay home where they are hidden. Just wondered what you thought. |

Well in our case, yes to the good stuff, as we will be bringing everything we own....But we have never had really good crystal. Never was into that. We are not wine drinkers, and beer fits in just about any glass! ![]() I did get rid of our Haviland china set....only dishes we are bringing are corelle. Heck, I guess we don't really have any good stuff anymore. |

I only bring plastic cups and plastic plates. NOT I do use plastic cups and plates occasionally for lunch, I don't always use china and crystal.

I use paper and plastic mostly, but have an old set of ironstone plates and bowls (for 4 settings) a couple of ceramic coffee mugs and a couple of iced tea glasses (jars with handles on them). Bought a new set of silverware from walmart, nothing special. I take a couple pieces of good jewelry, but don't have much of that, anyway. And I take one nice pantsuit suitable for church, wedding, funeral, etc. for just in case. |

For eating, drinking no nothing good. I bought the coolest Melamine plates and bowls with the 50's era pictures on it for MH. Like Jane, got a nice new set of silverware from WalMart. Old coffee mugs, thermal glasses and beer mugs. I take any jewelry I would wear at anytime.
Jane, struck me funny but very good idea.

Jane's comment about the good clothes does remind me of something we do bring - but we call them funeral clothes. We bring three days worth of dark good clothes every winter. We go to Florida for the winter and all our family is in the north, but not by our home, and we would undoubtedly fly up should there be a death (God forbid!) It would simply take too long to drive the rig back traveling the way we are used to. Friends of ours had their first three winters away disrupted (and that's not really the right word) by family deaths and they had to fly home. Their relatives lived by their home...ours do not. There would be no way to get home and get clothes and then get to a wake, funeral, etc...some distance away so we bring them with. It's a little macabre but we do it. |

I always bring some shore going kit - clotheswise. Otherwise, no. But remember, I have a little rig. I've actually bought some Canadian Tire 'special' cutlery. I used to bring 2 sets of stuff from home. |

Every day use at home is a Walmart set of dishes with a log cabin on them, and my "good stuff" is very heavy stoneware (Cheyenne) from Dillard's. My mom had everyday and china. I didn't want her china or silver....I told my sister she could have them, and I wanted my mother's beautiful gold engraved wedding ring. We take only paper or plastic camping, since we do so much primitive or boondocking camping. On the trip this year, I was very concerned about weight in the van, since we were going to be mostly in the mountains on steep grades, passes and backroads. I chose the lightest stuff to take...which was blue plastic but dishwasher safe blue bowls and rectangle blue plates with the dividers. We are using them right now because all the other stuff is in storage. Jewelry...I have diamonds and gold from over the years and have lost interest in all of it except my mother's ring, and my wedding ring. I wear only my wedding ring when we camp. Richard and I bought friendship bracelets in Juarez in November. They were about a dollar apiece, but remind us that no matter what happens in our life, through ups and down, we are first and foremost, best friends. |

Just re-usable plastic plates, cups and beakers. Don’t mind washing up when on holiday. Also bring as little as possible as I don’t mind “roughing” it. As long as we don’t have to go to the bathroom “au natural”. |

We use Corelle in the RV with matching 'real' glassware because I can always taste plastic even using acrylicware. But we do use acrylic for wine and cocktails--the spirits possibly kills the taste of the acrylic. The cutlery is from Walmart (which is where I got the Corelle). I don't have any expensive jewellery except what's on my fingers with a couple of exceptions and those I never take on the road, because they are too dressy. I take a nice jacket that can be used with 'casual' and 'comfortable' clothes. So in answer to your question, "No, we do not travel with valuable possessions." Sylvia |

No room in a SMB RB van for anything much, valuable or not! I just take what I need to use. I do have a tiny set of little glasses for sherry and other imbibables but I use cheap plastic ones for wine... Rick....
Don't worry, we'll take good care of you! You can stop kicking that can now...:floorrollin:
