We received bad news and good news when we took our RV to Cummins for transmission maintenance. Bad news - the turbo charger has to be replaced. Good news - It's covered under the engine warranty.   Finally, a break. Chrissy |

I would say, that this way, or another it is a good news. You are not loosing a single penny and are getting new turbo. What is the mileage and why the old one broke? Do you remember to cool down the turbo before engine shut down? |

Hi, Re: the turbo. I do not know why it or exactly what was wrong with it. When we took it in for routine transmission service I complained about the lack of power and asked them to check it out. They called but did not elaborate. As far as cool down I almost always idle the engine for a whle before shut down, although sometime (seldom) my hand is ahead of my brain and I shut it down too fast. The milage is about 28,000 miles. By the way this is the other half of the MyChrissy partnership. Frank |

I'll have to look into the temp guage. I haven't picked it up yet so I won't know the cause of the problem for a while. Frank |

Nah... the one I have suppose to last 800,000 miles. Talk to me in 140 years. The simplest test I do for vehicle performance is acceleration. Most of the cars post the 0-60 acceleration time, so after calibrating the speedo with GPS I am pulling over on the freeway shoulder, or merging line and flooring it. On motorhome you can clock it, when new and do the test periodically later. Just like checking MPG at each fill-up, that might be first indication of something wrong going. |

Kejtek1, Thanks for the info. That's a good idea. I noticed a drop in acceleration getting onto the interstate. I didn't think it was the turbo though. Frank |

Now, Polish language recognize sex in the names. For example husband is Kowalski, when wife is Kowalska. Still can't figure out how husband of mychrissy became MDPD6320 ? :scratchchin: |

I spoke to the folks a Cummins and they said that the Turbo was defective and it wasn't anything that could have been prevented. I will probably be able to pick it up on Monday. Anxious to do that and get it cleaned up to leave here on the first of May. Chrissy doesn't realize it yet (until she reads this) that they did the work via the bedroom in the RV as the turbo is directly under the bed. Hope they didn't make too big a mess. re: sign on is my last unit number before retiring. If anyone is interested I'll explain what the numbers mean. Frank |

Great, no you didn't tell me about them working in the bedroom. I hope they didn't get grease on the carpet.
Then I can really get ugly.
What else am I going to find out reading on this forum that you don't tell me at home?
