TB - you don't KNOW the kind of money I would pay for that Gnome in your pic! And I know JUST how I would use it!

The folks that bought next door late last year (while nice enough) - are "Kitsch" FREAKS! They have every single imaginable gaudy, tacky piece of stuff - EVERYWHERE! Along the side of the house, in the front entrance, in the back-yard, well - you name it..... "Road-runner" wind-vanes with spinning feet, a two dimensional metal COW about a foot high on steel stakes, driven into the back lawn. Plastic owls nailed to the railing of their deck, Gnomes EVERYWHERE - not just in the shrubs, but even on concrete Patio-blocks! "Japanese Wind-chimes" that probably came from New Jersey, phony Dutch "wooden-shoes" on the porch, next to their door (what's THAT about???) A couple duck-decoys, next to the shoes..... (?)

And "Fred" tells me they just LOVE to go around on Saturdays, to check out "Yard-sales"......... OH, JOY!

Mur, maybe you could take a picture of the neighbor's yard and post it. Why would people want so much "stuff" (putting it nicely) in their yard is beyond me. :nono:

My friend Laura lives in a beautifully landscaped little house in a Lake Association in Massachusetts. They did all the work themselves and are minimalists to save money for travel and other things more important to them. They put up a little, discreet clothesyard with a tall privacy fence, and the nextdoor neighbors complained that it looked "tacky" to have clothes hanging out to dry.

Laura went right down to the church Thrift Shop and bought a wooden cutout , the one of the fat lady gardener, bending over and showing her pantaloons while weeding. They stuck it right in the front yard, just long enough to make their point. They haven't heard a word since! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

While searching for a picture of the Fat Lady Gardener (can't find one; my search skills are poor), I found a lawn ornament for Colleen:

Who you'll call phoney eh? :box:
Ever been kicked on the shins by wooden shoes?

You leave them on the porch, next to the door because you don’t want to bring them IN.

Not phony Dutch person! LOL Phony shoes! He can recognize fake wooden shoes!! They must be wooden shoes from Taiwan. LOL Or plastic replicas from Singapore. Or they're Dutch people from Uganda. :dunno:

Better yet, I don't know!!

I'll trade a pair of lawn gnomes peeing and mooning for a bottle of wine... Another mooning gnome

Naughty Gnomes Made to Cover Up :dunno: Would like to read that story, but the link is unsuccessful. On edit: another gnome website :) Is this the story?

When I was growing up, I had a pair of wooden shoes I wore. Our neighbour wore his all the time. You could always go to his house and find a pair sitting outside the door.

Now the only "wooden" shoes I have are a teeny tiny Delft pair that sit in my cabinet with the rest of my Delft treasures.

Linda, you can still get them here in every gardening store. They’re great for meddling in the mud, keep you feet dry and warm, drop something on your toe's and they protect them and it's easy to kick them off when going indoors. When worn out, you can hang them on the wall and put flowers in them, sort of hanging basket.
Also very good for kicking backsides :P
