Good thing most of my waist-bands are elastic! LOL!

Did anyone ever try it out, after we talked about it last year?

Is that the frosting baked into the cake batter?

No frosting, the DRY cake batter is baked on top of the filling, with lots of pats of butter on the top.

Someone tried it, but didnt realize you dont add water to the cake mix - I think it tasted ok, but they said it was all gooey on top, when it should be kinda crunchy.

OK So you pour a can of cherry filling in the baking dish, and then pour out the dry cake mix over it...no eggs or water or oil...dot butter on it and bake it?

Shoot, I could do that over a campfire :) Might try it at the rally

1 can cherry pie filling
1 lg. can crushed pineapple
1 c. shredded coconut
1 box dry yellow cake mix
1 c. pecans, finely chopped
1 stick butter
Dump cherry pie filling and pineapple into a 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle coconut over this. Add dry cake mix. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Cover with sliced butter (may take a little more to cover). Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Recipe can be varied with any kind of pie filling and cake mixes.

In 9" x 13" pan, pour and spread over bottom can of crushed pineapple. Ladle out 1 can Wilderness Cherry Pie filling over pineapple. (Barely makes it)

Sprinkle walnuts over the top.

Can be served cold.

We dont use coconut, as my wife doesnt care for it - but it sounds good to ME!

ps - it's really RICH! Just have a small serving, or you'll wind up with a "sugar rush"! :floorrollin:

I have made this many times and i love it. It smells outrageously good while baking!

Be sure not to drain the pineapple; you use the whole thing. I use the natural juice kind, no sugar added.
