Yes Jackie....I too am very happy with mine but it would have been nice to have had the smaller, more compact, lighter weight and higher MPs....and cheaper too. :faint:

I never keep looking once I've bought what I want but I went into dpreview to post a review about the camera we have and then saw that new one there. I shouldn't have done it. I shouldn't have gone there :nono:

Yes I'm sure 6.3 MPs will do me fine......for now. :floorrollin:

Jackie...I watched that DVD about the camera and now I actually know what ALL the buttons do and how to use them.

Somebody who had the same Rebel saw me with mine in Yosemite and stopped me to ask me questions about it. I was talking to him for almost a half an hour showing him how to use features so he thought I was a real pro with it. I was a real fat head by the time I walked away. :floorrollin:

Chris....when I was looking for a camera I was almost going to buy a Nikon that I had read about on dpreview. I looked high and low for the camera but couldn't find one anywhere.

They post pre release reviews on dpreview even though the cameras aren't available in the stores yet.

You might have to wait a few weeks or even a couple of months before that camera is out in the stores but from what I've seen it looks good to me to wait for.

If I hear of anything about it good or bad in the photography forum I'll let you know.....but I haven't been there for months. Haven't had time for multiple forums.

No Jackie....I found an instructional DVD for that camera on Ebay and I bought it for $40. It's been really good because I don't retain information very well. :faint: so if I forget how to use a button or want to do something I've done before but forgotten how I did it I go back to the DVD then it all comes back to me.

Unless I use technical things and all their features often I forget how to use them so the DVD is a great memory jogger. :)

If I can wait then I'll know I am serious. It's a good test.

Can you point me to some good pointers on photography? Something to help prepare me.

Annie, that sounds wonderful! I have never bought anything of ebay before. I'll have to see if I can find one and figure out how to buy one! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

What, you don't get instructions with the camera, you have to pay extra just to get it to work? Maybe I should stick to photographic memory. :kickcan:

No Chris, you get a book......I guess I am more of a "show me" kinda girl than a "read it" one! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Congratulations Jackie,

For someone who's never used Ebay before you sure did get registered and straight into it really fast.

LOOKOUT EVERYONE!! Jackie's discovered Ebay and she knows how to use it. :floorrollin:

I know you will find the DVD's useful. :)

Now here are some instructions to prepare you for when the DVD's arrive.....

Sit down in front of the TV with a table in front of you. On the table make sure you have these things.....the camera, remote control to pause, rewind and start the DVD again and most importantly CHOCOLATE !!! :floorrollin:

Now make sure you take photos of anything in the room while the DVD is going so you can play with the buttons as they are explaining them.

Let me know what you think of it when you get it and have seen it.

A home made jobbie (the DVD's) but did help me to understand all the buttons and their uses.

Also sounds like you bought from the same guy I did. You'll probably have it within a week.

:)

Chris...you will get all the instructions you need in a book but like Jackie....I learn faster if I'm watching someone use it while they are showing me the buttons.

I fall asleep when I read a book these days....especially instruction books. :floorrollin:

On edit.....Chris....this was a guy who saw a market for a very popular camera so he made a home made instructional set of 2 DVD's on how to use the Canon Digital Rebel 300. I doubt very much if there would be an instructional DVD on the new Canon Rebel 350D if that's the one you decide to get.
