Not at all, Curly. ;) But, a couple of posts ago I asked where's a midpoint good for RVing between TX and FL? We could do a Southern Rally!

Let's not hijack this thread, but start thinking about it. I'm open to anything.

Memorial Day can work for me. Some parks will probably be full. With the reservation system I'm told by folks in the know that the popular parks get reserved for the next year the day the folks leave.

Unfortunately I was mistaken on the closeness of Turner Falls area to daughters house. She's got some other things happening and won't be able to make it out there soon. I think I took the features of Strattford, Tishimingo, and Sulfer and merged them all into one dream town. Duh.

I did just pick up some info on Eufaula from the folks out there. Park maps for 3 of the most recommended parks. Some have pull thrus and 50amp. These are in an area of the lake where the water is more clear supposedly. The sites with 50 amp were marked. I imagine those would be the best for the larger campers whether they need 50 amp or not.

Does anybody need 50? Is it a necessity?

One was in Playboy several years ago as having one of the best beaches.

Got a fax#?

I have a really good relationship with a ranger at Ft Gibson.

My wife and I are planning an outing next weekend. I think we'll check out Eufaula

Same here with state parks, the best are reserved I think it's 9 or 10 months in advance.

If not Memorial Day weekend, then the weekend before to beat the crowds.

Turner Falls or Eufaula.

Don't need 50 amp.

Wife would prefer rservation, so let me check what's available--where'd that link go to what was it, reserve USA or something?

I'll go with reservations being a necessity. Heck I can sleep alongside the road or at a gas station or on a pool table in a beer joint, or on a couch in a hospital waiting room, or just go home, but I'd never expect that of my wife or friends. I'm getting to be a softy in my old age. Realy these days reservations is the best idea.

On http://www.swt.usace.army.mil

on the Lakes link to the left find Eufaula.

go to Recreation Areas.

Check out Highway 9 North (I think this one had the Playboy beach)
Brooken Cove -- Not quite the most popular, but on the move up from what I hear.
And one more I can't remember. Info at office

I think it was Porum.

I'll see if can find a scanner that works in the morning.

I remain flexible on time and place.

Even if my wife can't make it on certain days, maybe I can get a date and take her. Then all I have to do is send her on her way before wife shows up for next day or so. I've already checked out my little black book, but the single page disintegrated in my hand and little yellow crispy pieces of paper blew away in the wind.

Here's the note I got.

I'm faxing you park maps for Belle Starr South, Brooken Cove, and Highway 9 Landing North and South. xxx says your best bet is probably Belle Starr. It is just off Highway 69 which would make it convenient and has several drive through sites with 50 amp breakers. Brooken also has some drive through sites with 50 amp breakers. Brooken is just a couple of miles south of the Dam and project office. Most of the sites at Hwy 9 Landing are shorter and have 30 amp breakers. I figured the pull through and 50 amp breakers would be good for large rigs.

Ok, I'd kick out the Nines and go with either Brooken or Belle Starr South. Belle Star South being recommended by one with knowledge, I'd go with it IF you want a Corps campground on Eufaula.

Conflicts on water availability, but my belief is that hydrants are there, perhaps just not one for each site.
According to the code on this map, Belle Starr is number 19, shaded Green. Its on the north side of an arm of the lake where US 69 crosses the lake near the town of Eufaula.

Oklahoma Wildlife has a nifty site you can see the area from a color photo.
http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/wmas2.htm

you have to go to N. Canadian area and then pan to the east then turn on the photo and zoom into the peninsula. The bridge and the marina is a good landmark.

From Reserve USA, look at
West Loop 5-7, 23-32 - many 50 amp pull thrus
West Loop 8-22, many 30 amp pull thrus
East Loop E8-E18, and E1-E4 - back-in and pull through sites that were circled on my map for some reason. PS2 is a group shelter.

Put in a date range for availability.

watch out for the North Arrow.

These maps I got are near unreadable. Don't think they would hold up to another fax or even scan and send.

I'm not ignoring this. But the wife just got home from a trip to Japan and I wanted her to have a look see and say.

I located their server and checked out the maps in a readable form. Appears water is at all sites.

Anyway, wife tried to read this thread and figure out what we'd decided. It sort of wanders. :)

This is what's pretty near decided, right? Somewhere around Lake Eufaula on or about Memorial Day?

Looks like plenty open sites then.
