Agree that reservations are necessary. It would be a shame to get all of us to a place and have no room! :faint:

We have never boondocked, or camped without at least water & electricity. I suppose we could for a couple of days, but we have no generator, yet. As long as we don't need the air conditioner. :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

OK, wife says May is a good time. Early April she's in Japan. June is an extended weekend Gulf cruise. July, August will be hot.

How's May sound?

Joanne mentioned Turner Fall's. Up 35. Chicasaw Natl Rec Areas, and Arbuckle RV Resort--what a Web site! ;)

Anyway, let me throw May out there...

Lots to do in the area, swimming, fishing, animal safari, restaurants, shopping, something for everyone. The Arbuckle Mountains are beautiful. May is warm, but not getting too awfully hot yet.

My grandkids are in Ada, just right near Sulpher. About 4 hrs for me.

I took my kids thru the drive thru zoo nearby years ago. That is a nice area.

Arbuckles has more to include Lake Murray (non-Corps). Lake Murray is a haven for scuba divers.

Probably easier trip north for Chris.

Wanna shoot for May?

Wife and daughter may know more about Turner Falls. My ex-wife spent a lot of time there in her youth.

Blue River is nearby. Part time trout fishing during colder part of year.

Very near most northern reaches of Lake Texoma.

I'll see if I can bribe my wife's daughter to do a scouting trip. Wife is wanting to go visit anyway.

I'm certainly a go for May in that vicinity. Wherever room is available.

This May???

Great time of year, but we won't be able to make it. Got the rally in NY at the beginning of May, then we have to head to Colorado by the 18th, and are there working until mid Sept.

I hope you all have a wonderful time and take lots of pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, Jackie, it's on the way to Colorado! I mean you don't want to go the way a crow flies, but take a great circle route, it's faster, you know.

Chris, if you can figure a way for us to leave the NY rally on the 15th, take the "scenic" route to Colorado via Texas and still be in Colorado by the 18th, than we will be there with bells on! Unless of course you just want us to wave as we drive by your rally. :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

I wonder how many who attend the NY rally from here would be able to add another rally in the same month????? May be something to consider????

Kidding of course.

But how many from these parts are attending the NY rally? Any?

Any idea the exact dates in May? If it's the end of May we may be able to make it. ;)

I don't know. But I was thinking more along the lines of those who attend the NY rally who may want to attend the Campfire Soapbox rally...there may be none, because of distance. :dunno: Haven't really heard from they yet.....

But as Pat suggested, those who are organizing it should pick the place and dates, and those who can come, will.

I would love to be able to attend it, and if we weren't so pressed for time, we drive to CO via TX! :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Ya, figure 10 hour days....

Plans kinda changed, as we were gonna take the car, which would have taken us longer as I don't think I would want to drive 10 hours!!!. But since we are both gonna be working the same days and hours at the campground, and we are coming back to Maine in October, we decided we would leave the car here, and get it when we leave Maine in October. No sense driving it (wear & tear and gas) all the way to Colorado when we won't really need it.

So with both of us driving, no reason that we can't get at least 10 hours in. Never stopped at a Flying J, but saw one when we went to SD a couple weeks ago. I was very excited! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

So either Flying J or Wally world, here we come! LOL

Seems to be a straight shot (as long as we don't take the circular route through Texas :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: ) from NY. And yup, I-80!

Jackie, you and Greg are young, 10 hr days shouldn't be too bad. Frank does all the driving now so we try not to go longer than 6 - 7 hours. When we left here go to north to New England the weather was bad and Frank drove right through to Charlotte, North Carolina. His eyes were bloodshot for two weeks. I guess the strain of driving in the rain and it taking us so long to get there.
