Eufaula, Alabama! Would that have been something if we'd planned a rally and some went to AL and others to OK! |

The first 2 pictures I posted above are google pics, and the last 2 are from our camping trip there around Memorial Day 2003. We had been camping and hiking in the Ouachita Mountains north of Broken Bow Lake, and then decided to head for the nearest lake. We had never been to Broken Bow Lake...and were very pleased. In addition to everything we mentioned above, there also is a wonderful nature center in the state park. They have a great staff and volunteers that have programs everyday about the injured or abandoned owls, birds, flying squirrels, etc. and snakes or lizards you can handle. And another wildlife museum in Hochatown that is excellent. We didn't hike at Broken Bow Lake, but they do have quite a few trails, from easy and medium to more strenuous. We did drive around the lake some, on the peninsulas to different campgrounds, and the campgrounds below the dam, but didn't check out the electrical sites. My Don Wright book doesn't give any RV length limit; maybe someone's Woodall's campground listing may have that info. We also drove through the state park on our way down to Mardi Gras this year and took more pictures, but they are pretty much like picture 2 above. Hochatown is very small but has an internet cafe and gourmet coffee. |

I guess all the facilities are State run. Hochatown around the Lake and Beavers Bend below the Dam on the river. More info at http://www.travelOK.com under state parks. I was told that the only state park in OK that accepts reservations is Natural Falls (that was a year ago by a State Park ranger at Nat. Falls), so reservations might not be available. Neither show up on reserveusa.com. |

Looks like only for cabins. I emailed them, we'll see. Besides state parks I see other campgrounds all labeled COE. Campgrounds of Europe? lol |

Chris, do you have a month in mind and are you kidding about the COE? I see you are making this rally pretty close to home.

Texoma was my first pick, but if it's all state parks, it'll be the same. Eufala is pretty nice--driving through anyhow. Need to look into private campgrounds. Month? Past the last avergae freeze date, before the next. April, May? I'm open re schedule. COE, Camping On Eufaula! |
