Joel (jrf) and I have been talking about getting together for a small RV rally. We are thinking somewhere in between San Antonio and Tulsa. And have considered a few places in OK like Lake Texoma just across the TX line along 69; Eufaula Reservoir just on up 69 near I40; or Broken Bow Lake in the southeastern corner of OK. But were open to other places in between. And we're as yet open to the time, sometime Spring, or Summer, or even Fall. We're thinking 2-3 nights, though length of stay is up to each person. We both work, so an extended holiday weekend would be good, though a day off can be arranged. That where we are with it. Sketchy but a start. Any interest? Anyone else in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana area interested? I know it's difficult to plan out sometimes but anyone passing through that area we could hook up with? (Jack, O Leader, can you pin this?) |

Not sure yet Chris, as we have to see but it's something we would like to think about. We still would love to go to the one in New York, but it's so far.

Hey, Joel, let's start developments.
For starters, let's pick a place. I'm looking at Broken Bow Lake and see two state parks, Beaver's Bend and Hochatown. I can go search for them but what do you know about them? What info can you get? |

My brother and my Dad an me used to go to Beavers Bend by Broken Bow and trout fish. I never did check out the RV stuff. We've stayed in a tent and rented a cabin. RV was furthest thing from my mind. I'll call up a ranger next week and ask about RV facilities nearby. The trout fishing is downstream of the Lake. The Corps releases cold water out of the lake to feed the river for trout. That's the Beavers Bend area. Its pine tree type of country. And hilly. Around here I call it mountainous. It gets pretty busy at times. There is a restaurant in the State Park that serves up some good blueberry pancakes in the morning. If one does without the high$ stuff like the tiny glass of orange juice and etc, the price was real good. When I got married one of the old timer surveyors told me that's where I ought to go on my honeymoon. I got married on the Columbus day weekend so didn't even have to take a day off work. Wife and I got a motel room. I never saw the countryside much except one day we drove around a little. Didn't do any fishing that trip. I'd say the primary attraction at Beavers Bend is the trout fishing and the scenery. Don't think its on the lake. The lake could be a good day trip. Clean and cold, not one of those muddy Texas lakes. Maybe a group could rent a pontoon boat for a few hours. I could pick up where my honeymoon left off. One friend of mine, said that if one is near Eufaula Lake, then the Army folks used to be able to rent a boat from the McAlester Army Ammo Depot for real cheap and use it on Eufaula. Just put that in in case some of ya'll are Army dudes. Fixing the house is gonna take my MH tire money, but there's a trip in them yet. |

Broken Bow Lake, beautiful area! We've tent camped there and really liked it. We didn't camp with hook-ups there, but enjoyed our primitive sight. We also swam, fished in the lake, and also fished for trout below the dam. They have fish cleaning stations. Broken Bow Lake has a whole range of things to do... from enjoying the lake, campgrounds, fishing, boating, etc. to hayrides, a little train through an area with lots of deer, horseback riding, bait shop, ice cream parlor, and this is all inside the park area. An ice cream vendor drove through our campground!!! Man, was that a treat on that hot June day! Even with all Broken Bow Lake offers, it still feels and looks non-commercial.![]() ![]() ![]() Our tent!! ![]() PUBLIC REC AREA FEATURES AT BROKEN BOW LAKE: Beaver's Bend State Park: Picnic area Campsites; Drinking water; Restrooms; Showers; Swim beach; Change house; Dump station; Electricity; Concessions; Playground; Cabins; Boat rentals; Horseback riding; Tennis courts; Mini golf; Canoe floats; Hayrides Carson Creek: Boat ramp Picnic area; Campsites; Drinking water; Restrooms; Showers; Dump station; Electricity; Playground Cedar Creek: Drinking water; Restrooms; Golf course Holly Creek: Boat ramp; Campsites; Restrooms River Bend: Picnic area; Campsites; Drinking water; Restrooms; Showers; Swim beach; Dump station; Electricity; Playground; Nature trail Stephens Gap: Boat ramp; Picnic area; Campsites; Drinking water; Restrooms; Showers; Swim beach; Dump station; Electricity; Concessions; Playground |

Joel, let us know what the ranger says--hooked up I'm about 35' which is impotant at some older Texas state parks. Eufaula is still a possibility but after seeing Joanne's pictures Broken Bow is mighty fine. Joanne, did you check RV sites at all? |

If length is gonna be a deciding factor on where the rally is, we are going to be at least 45' total length, but more likely a tad longer. Can't exactly measure until the 5er comes in. But it is 37' and Greg estimates the truck to be about 13'. The pics of that park look beautiful, Joanne. But if we are the only one to long to fit in a place that the majority wants to go to, that is perfectly ok!!!! Maybe we will be able to find a campground close by. |
