Job training is the function of universities?

I'm just waiting for him, in his new found glory, to say something about the president along the lines of he should be shot or removed, etc. Then you won't have to worry about him anymore. Even free speech doesn't extend that far.

It would seem now that the Board will have to fire him anyhow. There are too many causes that will require his dismissal. He will have his bully pulpit for a short time longer.

If he had any intelligence at all he could have worded his essay a little different and said the same things which would have caused people to think about what he said. Now he is known strictly as a hate monger. A very stupid one at that.

Good find, Alan. About nails it for me. A single poorly chosen analogy three years ago triggers a demonization that as an unintended consequence elevates his importance and sets up the world for his stage.

To tie this to another thread, demonization also elevates Kennedy.

Ward was not completely useless, worth 7 pages here, how many on other forums and blogs? 1000? 10000? More?

 :dunno:

Well if it isn't then why do you have to have a degree to get certain jobs?

Yet I know a lot of people who think college is about improving the person and not job training. They use this mind set to justify spending $150,000 to get a job that pays $35,000 a year....

Proving you can learn and think critically. You think universities are just overpriced vocational tech schools? Everything isn't about money and jobs!!!

If you can think critically, you will realize that universities are just overpriced vocational tech schools, with (hopfully) just a few morons like Ward Churchhill. Would you pay $150,000 just to improve yourself?

I take that back...Would you pay $150,000 just so you could improve yourself mentally? I suspect there are a lot of people that would pay $150,000 for plastic surgery....

I've educated myself, my wife and two kids, spent well more than that per person over the years, none of it was wasted! Look up to the stars and wonder at their majesty, not at the mud and hope the crops will grow.

Well I guess the people are tired of hearing about Churchill.

I wonder how many of the same people would have defended him and what he said if he had said the same things about homsexuals...

Or if he had lead a prayer before his speech.

I bet everyone of those "free speech" advocates who continually distort the U.S. Constitution would have been all over him, academia or not.

This guy is further proof of why our people are turning out the way they are with their distorted views of the world. Unfortunately he is only the tip of the iceberg.

Jim, no name calling, please. "Favorites."

Now that was fair.

On edit, one agree to removal of name calling. Jim, that leaves you hanging, sorry.

Cal "I wonder how many of the same people would have defended him"

Are you speaking of someone here defending him?

And you, Jim. Difference is, Jim, that's the first time [deleted] has done that, it's just not typical, not like with you.

One comment would have sufficed. Why are you trying to distract the discussion?

Jim,
Chris is the one who objected to RINO, not me! I actually found that what you thought were insults somewhat lauditory.

Chris,

Whatever, edit it out if you want.
