The Secret History of the Credit Card It's from PBS. Just some interesting stuff about credit cards. For example, this Credit Card Quiz. Might be personal, but how many do you have? How much do you use it? Do you you pay off completely every month, minimum? We have 1. Use it for just about everything. Paid off in full monthly. Wife uses it as account of where we are spending. |

That's better than I thought. I heard that it costed you an "arm and a leg" or "your first born" and on top of that "a pound of your flesh" as a down payement. |

After losing all those limbs and flesh, ignoring first born, you need health care.

We only have one credit card (my wife has a copy) and we pay everything (I mean everything, including my last car) on credit card. For each $ charged on our credit car, we get 1 mile of free air travel with Air Canada, anywhere in the world. For our health care system, we use this card: (Not mine)No month-end statement, no limit, everybody is pre-approved, accepted everywhere when medical services are necessary. Love it |

we use 3, but one of them is for my mother's needs...and we pay them off each month. but when we're traveling, I prefer to take along $$ and pay as we go so I don't have a big charge on it when we come home. I find using charge cards for everyday spending is sorta like playing poker with toothpicks instead of money...

I have 2 - MC & Visa. The MC is for all my business expenses that I pay off every month. It is an Airmiles credit card that earns me double air travel points. The other is for personal use and I must admit, I don't pay that one off every month but it doesn't have a high balance (less than $1000) at any given time. I find I never carry cash and at times its really difficult to buy a coffee at Tim Horton's as they don't take debit cards. There are times that I'll go to the ATM and take out 20 bucks and it'll last me over a month. |

The people that drive me nuts are the ones who use a credit/debit card in a 9-item "Express" line. Why do you think they call it EXPRESS, people??? * shakes fist in the air * |

I don't know if I agree with you Pentax.... Have you seen how slowly the cashiers count back change? And how often they get it wrong? Probably faster to use VISA... |

They 'count back' change out there do they, eh? Well, you're some lucky. I haven't had anybody do anything except try to plop it all in my hand. They try to pass you bills, coins, and receipt all in one. & I don't deal with that way so I won't take it that way.

Credit beats the person in front of you counting coins no better than the one behind the counter. Counter? Hmmm, strikes me counters are for counting, people who use them should know how to count. Or use a credit card. |

Anyone seen or used those self-cashouts at the grocery stores? My daughter and I used one with my dad while we visited at Xmas. Very interesting. Not a time saver for the purchaser but a real wage saver for the store. 6 checkouts and only 1 girl there to help out if you ran into problems. I didn't see the prices to be any lower than the other stores with the wage overhead. Personally even if I were to save a few bucks checking myself out I'd rather pay the extra and get the cashier and bagger to do it. Heck, here they still ask if you'd like a hand out to your car. |
