Is it possible that the straw was, at one point in time, much larger than when it was found on the ground |

Yes, I believe so. Straws are manufactured in long coils, that are then chopped up once they cool down. Otherwise, no not much larger. (!!!) on edit: after some research, it seems that's not how most straws are manufactured my bad

that's quite a hint Jack! ![]() I must also say that the straw is very important, and will change an aspect of your story significantly, although you have most of the rest |

The straw is made out of cheap plastic, the guy bought it at a supermarket. (Spinneys I think, we could ask him but he's dead ) Another hint: (although i doubt it would help you much Jack as you have already figured this out) this story could not have taken place more than 250 years ago |

Your last answer really does not help me much. If he had bought the straw at Colruyt, it would make it easier
but Spinneys.... (Aren't they from Saudi Arabia????Plastic, 250 years ago?????????????

A plastic straw would have been difficult to find 250 years ago yes ... I won't say anything else otherwise it's a giveaway! Colruyt! now we're talking The straw has blue-stripped zebras and pink elephants painted on the shaft. There is "casa rosa : DO IT NOW: 020-6278954" written in the pattern, so I imagine this guy must be from amsterdam ![]() Jack, the straw's second-to-last purpose was most probably for drinking. |

My story is that he dropped the straw from "what-I told-you earlier" before the thing took-off after loosing so much weight. |
