Must not forget a lovely chocolate beverage now shall we Chocolate Coffee Kiss Recipe Ingredients 1 Splash Grand Marnier 4 oz. Coffee 1 1/2 oz. Chocolate Syrup 1 Splash Brown Creme de Cacao 3/4 oz. Irish Cream 3/4 oz. Coffee Liqueur Mixing Instruction pour liqueurs and syrup into irish coffee glass and fill with coffee, top with whipped cream and garnish with shaved chocolate and cherry :luckyclover: |

I went to the specialty store the other day to buy ingredients to make some white chocolate/macadamia nut cookies and while there I spied some hazlenut belgium chocolate chunks. So, naturally, I had to get some. Can you say exquisite? Oh my golly, it is so-o-o-o rich and creamy. |

OK, chocoholics; my sister is coming for dinner and I just happened to have the ingredients on hand for this: Chocolate Pots de Creme 1 cup heavy cream 1 cup half and half pinch of salt 6 oz. very good bittersweet chocolate, grated or chopped in bits, in a heatproof bowl 6 egg yolks, beaten well with: pinch of salt 2 TB sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla Turn your oven to preheat to 300*. Put a folded dishtowel in the bottom of a baking pan large enough to hold eight small ramekins or ovenproof custard cups. Have a kettle full of water starting to boil. In a saucepan, heat the cream and half and half until it just starts to boil. Pour over the chocolate and whisk gently til the chocolate is all dissolved. Beating with the whisk, slowly add some of the hot chocolate and cream to the yolks. Then return the yolk mixture to the remaining cream, beating well until it's smooth. Ladle the custard evenly into the ramekins. Pour in the boiling water til it is 1/2 way up the sides of the cups. Cover the pan with foil and seal around the edges and poke a few little holes to let the steam out. Put in the center of the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the custard is set around the edges but still a little shaky in the centers. Lift out of the water with tongs and put them on a rack to cool completely, uncovered, about 1 hour. Then cover them and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Serve with a little whipped cream and a few berries, if you have them. Chocolate Nirvana! For a different taste, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of powdered espresso to the chocolate. Mocha Nirvana! |

Trailblazer, thanks. The cookies were so-o-o-o good. I also added some cherry flavoured cranberries. (Ocean Spray Craisins) The combination of flavours was delicious. In the Vancouver area there is a chain of restaurants called Milestones. They have a chocolate ganache dessert on their menu that is astounding. |

Oh, was the dessert delicious! Almost fudgy when cold; then melts on the tongue.....not at all sweet but very, very rich. I bet it could be made with Splenda and have even less carbs. But next time I would make it with half heavy cream and half whole milk, instead of 1/2 and 1/2. Almost too rich as it is written. Bluestar, I have to disagree about reading recipes having no calories.. Since I have been doing the Seasonings forum, I have definitely gotten somewhat....more solid. LOL. But all that is beginning to change! |
