Has anybody ever heard of sugar, chocolate chips, pecans, flour, baking soda, cocoa, and a little bag of miniture marshmallos in a quart jar layered. With a card tied to it said , Rocky road marshmallo brownies. Just add eggs and butter and a little water. and directions on baking. Danny Thibodeaux

My husband is a chocoholic, and has a birthday coming up around Christmas. I think I'll get an apothecary jar, layer it, put a ribbon on it, and give it to him for one of his birthday presents.

I really like this idea. Thanks!

I haven't heard of that one specifically, but have seen other such "kits". Never tried one, though.

Sounds like a wonderful idea. If I knew what to call it, I'd google it, but have no idea where to even start!

Danny,
I've never heard of anything like that either, but certainly sounds interesting. Let us know if you find more recipes that are similar.

Well, I just googled "quart jar recipes" and this is the first one I found. It's just soups, but may be a start.

I have seen what you are talking about and here's one link to recipes in a jar.

Edit to add that these seem to be cookie/brownie things at first glance.

Man, I think this internet thing just might catch on!! Thanks to everyone who replied to the post I did. Thanks mostly to DylansMom and PRT. My wife is so happy she is peeing all over herself. (not a pretty site). But she is on her way to Wally world (walmart) right now to get jars. LOL Danny

Must me a fad for this Christmas, I bought my daughter a book on these jar recipes for her birthday on Sat. It was a starter kit came with jars, rattan, gift tags etc. They do make an excellent gift.

Hint, Hint I may get one for Christmas ;)

Some of the ladies at work hand these out at the office as Xmas gifts. Its really a good idea for those that hand out lots of little gifts.

I'm wondering now if I might have a jar of it in my desk drawer from a couple years back.

One year I got some sort of coated pecans. I got one of those brownie mixes.

They really do up the ribbons nice and directions nice. I like the jars with a wire latch, those are neat.

A really cool one was a mason jar with a mug handle on it that had a drink mix in it. I got cup and all thay way.

The separate bag a marshmellows in the jar is a new one on me but sure is a good idea.

Sorry I didn't see this last night, Danny, but bedtime comes early here.

I have made up chocolate chip cookie kits by measuring and sealing the dry ingredients in a zip-loc bag , also a bag of nuts and chocolate chips, and packaging them, with the recipe on an index card, in a pretty tin. This can be done with many recipes. Basically what you are doing is making a homemade "mix". I hadn't thought of putting it in a jar, but that would work too.
