When we lived in Miami, there were plenty of places we could go to have fun, sing a little, dance. OUr favorite place was "Howl At The Moon" in Coconut Grove. I miss those days there's nothing in Gainesville that plays the old "rock 'n roll" songs and a place to dance for us oldies. I noticed there was a "Howl at the Moon' in Riverwalk, San Antonio. Chris have you ever been there? Let your hair down.... |

When we were in Phoenix last month, we went to a Happy Hour one evening at a great club, but I can't remember the name of it. Free buffet food, and "doubles" for the price of one. They had a DJ playing old 60's and 70's rock, there were people dancing out on the dance floor, and it was only 6 pm! We got out and slow danced. Actually, dancing is really great exercise and great therapy! |

There is really not much to do around here. Movies, bars or bars. Not so bad now that the state has banned smoking in bars, but before it was really bad. No real dance clubs or anything like that. Boring, boring, boring!! |

Nothing to do here at all, especially in the winter. They roll up the sidewalks at 7 pm. Renting a movie is the most exciting thing to do without going to Hartford or New Haven, and even that is iffy.... |

Well, here in a few weeks, we'll be on the gulf fishing at night! We'll have the Grand Isle State Park pier (well lit, too) all to ourselves at nighttime. With a thermos of something hot to drink, or beer on ice, a little radio, or listen to the gulf waves and dolphins chattering...kick back in the lawn chairs, or the hammock, we'll just make ourselves at home on the pier, and wait for those redfish to bite!![]() ![]() See our tent? (Just kidding!) |

Jack, You need to pack your bags and come to Florida where the sun shines every day, no snow and we'll make you margaritas and soon you will forget about the snow. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: |

This was last winter (we were in Florida, thank God!) but about six of our friends sent us this shot. It was taken about 15 minutes north of us. ![]() There becomes simply nowhere to put it after awhile, and it just keeps snowing. Last year there was 181" and our average is 115" or so. I am so grateful we can escape it now. |

"Howl at the Moon"? Do that every once and a while. And don't need to go downtown either! Had to look it up: Howl at the Moon. Looks wild and crazy. I'd prefer John T Floore's Country Store, or the Gruene Dance Hall, or the Luckenbach Dance Hall, 'cause

Chris, You really should go down to the Riverwalk and hang out. We loved Dick's Last Resort there and were glad to find another in North Myrtle Beach. It's hysterical. |

Dinner out, movies, we like to very casually entertain at home...used to go out more. Ed has a group of men friends and I have my women friends so we don't always do together. He has male bonding time at his Irish pub and mine is usually with the girls over lunch or shopping. I'm not much of a shopper so I love online...its all on here. I read, love TV, movies, travel, volunteer with Thrift Shop that benefits AnimalKind. |

Speaking of fun things to do. All you northern folks do read Janet Evanovich, right? Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum! I just laugh til tears run down my face. Can't wait for her next one ![]() Of course, you don't have to be from there but helps you relate. I was born and raised in Miami so I can relate through ... what is that word...osmosis? (if Pat is listening in I apologize. I did not pay attention in English class) Anyone with a sense of humor, esp women will love it. Kate

Just for fun I like to get up pre dawn to go out in sub zero temperatures at 8,000 feet elevations in gale force freezing winds trying to breathe cause there's no air up there so I can get the perfect shot on my camera at sunrise.
If I survive that I'm really having even MORE fun.
