When my Dad was going through radiation for his cancer (a LONG time ago) he decided that on his last visit, he was gonna pull a prank. He brought in one of those pop up times, already popped of course, and at completion of his last treatment, he put it in his belly button and said he was done! I bet the staff there got a good laugh out of that one. |

Good for your Dad! Nothing like a laugh to get you through a hard time. When I went in for my second hip replacement, I managed to stay awake long enough to say to my surgeon; "Doc, I have to ask you just one thing." "What's that?", he asked. I replied "Measure twice, cut once!" The whole OR staff cracked up. |

That was good Heather!!!!!!!! Another funny thing my Dad said was after his heart attack. He wasn't feeling very well one afternoon and when we went to visit, it was decided we should take him to the emergency room. When he got up, he was to dizzy to make it down the stairs, so we called 911. When they got him into the ambulance, he flat lined. (This coulda happened in MY car and he woulda died for sure) They used the "zapper paddles" to revive him. At the hospital, he told the nurse he wished he had had a bag of microwave popcorn and they could be snacking! NOTE: Always call 911!!!!!! Anyway, it is food related, popcorn and all, but sorry to stray!

A true hospital story. I was working in a CCU in Eustis Fl. A nurse from the medical floor came in and said that a patient was Missing on rounds. He was about 80 years old and was hooked up to an IV. Shortly thereafter a nurse from the ER came up and said a patients family had reported their car missing that had been hurridly left out front. Morning time came and when the gate at Disney World opened a man in the stolen car with a IV pole sitting beside him was waiting. He said he wanted to see it before he died..........he had hot wired the car and driven the seventy some miles. |
