Well, the time has come to post this fabulous eggnog recipe I've been making this for over 30 years. My Mom also made this recipe for her guests. I was never crazy about eggnog until I tried this. MAKE SURE: You make this a week before serving so that it will mellow.... We try a little every night to make sure of that. Beat un stiff 12 egg whites Beat in 1/2 cup sugar Beat until very light 12 egg yokes 1 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt Combine the egg mixtures and stir until thoroughly blended. Add 1 quart heavy cream, beaten 1 quart milk 1 quart bourbon whiskey Beat well. Add 1 cup rum Pour into a gallon jug (put the extra in a quart jar. You can sprinkle with nutmeg when served. |

Ok, LOL, I thought you were teasing us some more! ![]() You weren't kidding when you said they weren't for dieters! Sounds great!! How long does it last? LOL, I know you'll say, "not long", but I mean when stored in the fridge, between uses! Thanks for sharing the secret family recipe, Chrissy! You may have just started a whole bunch of new tradition at other households!!

Actually Jackie, it last for months. We not only enjoy the eggnog, but enjoy making it. I have a beautiful glass punch bowl to serve it in. It's just something special we do every year. |

Months? Cool, I guess I'll have to try it than. Greg likes eggnog, I never have been a fan, but would try it!! Who know, I might like it like you did. LOL Have you ever tried to make only half a batch? I know some recipes don't scale down well. |

Jackie, believe me when I say this is the best eggnog you will ever have the joy of sipping! The alcohol content keeps it from spoiling. Also, the alcohol takes care of any worries you might have about eating raw eggs. We have had no problem with it. The worst problem it gave me was in the final mixing; it nearly filled the biggest KitchenAid mixer bowl and I had to patiently ladle it into the jars to keep from pouring it all over the counter. Thanks, Chrissy, you have added a new dimension to the holidays! (and to my waistline...but I'll deal with that later.) |

Thanks Chrissy, I was building up a powerful thirst waiting for it. This will do me for this afternoon -- I'll make another batch for others to drink. I do have to test things ya know--if there is one thing I excel at it's testing alcoholic beverages like these. ! Sylvia |

That sounds absolutely delightful! I adore eggnog and will splurge over the holidays and cut out my normal lo-carb routine. I too would like to know if it'll convert to 1/2 recipe. I can cheat a bit, but not that much! |

Yes, this recipe can be cut in half with no problem. Just remember to make the eggnog a week ahead of time so it mellows. |

Thanks! But don't worry, Chrissy, I won't be staying for a whole week. It would be nice if you still liked me after I leave!
Will pm you when I know more. |
