With all the mentions about sweet potatoes, I thought I would pass this one along. Miss Heather, do you know the difference between Sweet Potatoes and Yams? Ma Ma made these for holidays and I wish she would have made them all the time.We have people around here that sit all day on their tailgate and sell sweet potatoes out of their trucks for $6.00 a large sack. Here we go. Danny 1 cup flour 2 teas. baking powder 1 cup cooked and mashed sweet potatoes ( canned are fine also) 1 teas. salt. 1/2 cup sugar 3 tablespoon crisco or other shortening 1/3 cup milk Sift together the flour salt and baking powder. In a bowl, mix the sugar and sweet potatoes together. Cut in shortening and beat till smooth. Add the dry ingredients to potato mix, alternating with the milk. Blend well!! Roll out on floured board, Cut with biscuit cutter, Place in grease baking pan, and bake @ 400 deg. for 20 minutes. Now did you give up Miss Heather? Yams are sweet potatoes with the fart already removed.

Danny, I am happy to say that neither sweet potatoes or yams ever affected me that way.I am SO happy to have this recipe. I've loved these things ever since I visited a restaurant that served them for a starter. Of course I made a pig of myself and had to take most of my dinner home in a doggy bag, but it was worth it. Wish I could remember the name of the restaurant; it was a fairly well-known one in Massachusetts, I think. |

They sure sound delicious. We "northerners" never ate sweet potato pies or biscuits, but I tried sweet potato pie for the first time last year. I loved it. |

I love sweet potatoes or yams!
My Mom used to tell us the difference, but I can't remember what they are. (I don't think she told us it was the fart removed, I would remember that!)I want to try this sweet potato biscuit recipe. I also like sweet potato pie, and french fried sweet potatoes. I love them just baked and lots of butter! (Me too Heather!) And with Grandma's Unsulphered Molasses! The sweet potato lovers thank you for this recipe! |
