I don't think I'll be taking my baby camper anywhere for awhile....

Heather, It's been almost 4 years since I've seen snow. I would love to see it snow once in Gainesville - on Christmas Day. I understand it did snow here maybe 20+ years ago. I'm sure this town came to a screeching halt.

Chrissy.....more likely....a SLIDING halt, ending with a CRUNCH!

Our local rescue trucks were sure busy last night; I think everyone has to learn again each year, how to drive in the snow. Me, I don't go out in the stuff if I can help it, and Mom agrees. Just re-schedule all the appointments and hope for better weather. I had to drive thousands of miles every winter in that white s*** (stuff) and when I retired I said never again. :P

A few weeks ago, our campground picnic tables in the Grand Canyon were covered with thick snow. Big huge campground, and hardly anybody there. But the few who were, were tent camping at 28 and 29 degrees at night.

Tent camping in the snow!!!!!!!!!!! Whew, not this kid. Although we do have a tent heater. Got to use it one weekend, the last weekend we tent camped. Gonna keep it AND the tent so we can go camping while we are fulltiming! LOL

(plus we paid a lot of money for that tent at LL Bean, not gonna give it up just yet!)

I spent far too many nights 'camping' in the snow when I was in the army. When we were lucky we had a tent to sleep in or even the back of a truck. When we were on war manuvers, it was a hole in the ground. Surprising just how warm one can be when one has the right sleeping bag. One thing I did learn about sleeping in the snow, it doesn't snow when its -40. Its too cold.
Ah, the good ol days!

I have yet to shed a tear that I haven't scraped s*** so far this season! Sylvia, bite your tongue!!! My boots are still in the closet and the longer they stay there, the happier I will be. Must get the scrapers and my little shovel into the trunk though...don't want to be caught off guard.

I will find my long handled scraper just in case Jack Frost pays a surprise visit. Thanks for the heads up.

Actually, my car for the first time in 3 years is snug as a bug in the garage. Christine removed her belongings that prevented us from using it a couple of weeks ago. It's wonderful to use the garage again for the purpose it was intended. Will only need the scraper for when I'm on the road and the snow and ice accumulates while it is outside.

Come on snow, can't wait to put my Christmas decorations up. I noticed on Friday night that our village, just outside the tourism office, has some lights on a few evergreen trees already--they looked really pretty.

I guess it's not much fun to camp in the snow if you HAVE to! :o :( Sounds awful. When it's snowy or really cold, we sleep in the van.

What is a tent heater? Propane powered? Can you provide a link to this?

Here is a link to the Coleman Tent Heaters. We have the top one. Of course a tent is a tent, and it will never make it 70 degrees in there, but does keep it a tad toasty! LOL

Greg would light it before we went to bed, and lit it again in the morning before we got out of the sleeping bags! Really did make a difference.

Thanks for the link. We might have to try one out.

I love tent camping, except in bear country, especially grizzly country. (Oklahoma has bears, but we never worry about them.)

We had a tent heater when the six of us camped - about 25 years ago at this point. It certainly didn't look as streamlined as the new ones. LOL! It worked, though, and that's all that mattered.
We needed it one February break in Orlando, in what I remember now as a platoon size tent since our 4 girls ranged from 11 to 5, and it was freezing. Miserable weather for Florida for a night or two. That heater was a godsend.
