EU, Iran Nuclear Deal Seen Doomed Without U.S. Help

"A European deal aimed at freezing Iran's nuclear fuel program in exchange for peaceful atomic technology and other incentives will never work if Washington is not directly involved, diplomats and an analyst said on Monday."

And "White House spokesman Scott McClellan, referring to the IAEA deadline, said: 'The board set a November deadline. And this is a time when Iraq should take this opportunity and comply.'"

"But Washington's hard-liners have refused to join forces with the EU, insisting that Tehran forfeited the right to a nuclear program by keeping its nuclear fuel production research hidden from the IAEA for almost two decades."

We are just getting started.Once you get the taste of blood it's hard to stop. While the Palestinians are waiting for Arafat to kick the bucket which may take years the way machines work, the Israeli's can knock out Iran's nuke plants and have them scratching their heads as to what happened We will along with our trading partner China crush North Korea.

That makes three down. We will keep Russia as our pal and use the oil they pump through their mountains, to Afghanistan, and to the sea and of course keep a few warships in the gulf along with a few subs to make our Saudi friends feel safe.

If you are not with us then your against us. Good idea. No :dunno:

I think GW got burned on Iraq, and will be a lot more hesitant to listen to the hawks from now on. Besides, we don't have enough troops and money for any more preemptive strikes, unless they are just limited to taking out installations from the air.

Agree with both points, Tom. I think Bush has opened his eyes a bit. And it's just plain not feasible without a great deal of sacrifice.

I'm reading Renquist's The Supreme Court and he points out a mojor difference between WWII and the Korean War was people were just not willing to sacrifice for some ethereal cause like the Cold War the way they did during the world war--very much my paraphrase.
