Yowser, am I glad America didn't get into a big brew-haw about 54:40 or fight! All of us would be living in igloos had that happened!

I just can't picture myself chomping on a piece of hide to soften it enough to make my boots or hitching up the dog sled to go for a loaf of bread!

Sylvia

Corky, I do foresee the day of International citizens--not in my time, but definitely in my grandchildren's future.

Just as the world went through a phase of Nationalization, leading up to and in many ways causing the two world wars, you'll see "Continentalization" before "Internationalization." That is clearly what is happening in Europe with the EU. If we are successful in spreading democracy to the Middle East, and they drop relious differences for secular interests, you can expect to see an even strong UAR. China could drive something similar in Asia perhaps. South America, maybe. But the sticking point will be North America with the US and Canada possessing strong histories and cultures of independence. Perhaps in time as economic interests draw us together.

Its my unfounded opinion that groups such as PNAC definately have a "continentalization" in mind, not out of any sense of philanthropy for Canada or Mexico, but to establish a "Fortress North America", both in spirit AND reality.
Given their wishes, I'm sure we would see American troops cruising our soil any damn time they felt like a need for it.

Won't happen. Not with someone on the same level if not ahead of us economically. The neocon argument is one of economic imperialism, backed by military only if expedient. One that takes advantage of less developed, backward, "raghead" (propoganda a requirement) economies. It is in our best interests.

Much as I favor capitalism against alternatives, it does have its dark side. Always has always will. Something must be exploited. If not the wealth of a nation, the wealth of another, if only its people.

I didnt mean "invading", Chris - more like an "Excuse us, coming through - we have things to do over here!..." kind of way.

Somebody has to provide for your defense, you have abrogated it yourself. But, we will be courteous and not show up unless invited.
