Love these, sometimes I sprinkle a bit of confections sugar on them.

1 package (8 squares) unsweetened chocolate
1 cup butter
5 eggs
3 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts

Melt chocolate and butter in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool slightly.
Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla in large mixing bowl on high speed for 10 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture on low speed. Add flour, beating just to blend. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased 13x9 inch pan.

Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

What are you DOING to us, Chrissy? Are these brownies to go with the eggnog? Hey, the Halloween candy isn't even gone yet!

I will let you know how they came out.... ;)

Don't cross the line Heather, I'm watching you. I'll have to watch that mouth.      I will post another scrumptous recipe very shortly that I used to make when I was young and SKINNY. So, you know that was years ago. In fact, we are having company this Saturday and I may make it. It is to die for.

My co worker just retired and she used to make these for us ...next to the ummmm special brownies ;) these are just scrumptious: just ask my hips :(

GAIL'S BEST BROWNIES

Butter or margarine 1/2 cup
Cocoa 1/4 cup
Eggs 2
Granulated sugar 1 cup
All-purpose flour 3/4 cup
Chopped walnuts 1/2 cup
Salt 1/8 tsp.

I always double this recipe and use a no stick 9' by 13' pan and bake for 5 extra minutes.
I also use the walnuts that are chopped very small.

In small bowl beat the eggs until frothy. Add sugar, flour, nuts and salt. Don't stir yet. Then pour cocoa mixture over top and stir all together. Scrape batter into greased 8x8 inch pan. Bake in 350 F oven for about 30 minutes.

ICING

Icing sugar 11/3 cups
Cocoa 1/3 cup
Butter or margarine 3 tbsp.
Hot coffee or water 5 tsp

I always use hot coffee, strong, instant, but could be perked coffee.
For a glossy look, I always frost while brownies are still warm.

Beat all together, adding more liquid if mixture is too firm to spread easily, I just keep adding a teaspoon at a time until I get it just right to spread. Spread over baked brownies. Allow to set before cutting.

These brownies don't take very long, make the frosting while brownies are baking.
ENJOY, ENJOY!! MUST LIKE CHOCOLATE!!

Wolfgoddess,
Another delicious sounding browning recipe. The icing sounds similar to one I make that I put on a white cake I make for birthdays. I use confectioners sugar, cocoa powder, strong coffee and 1 or 2 tablespoons butter.

I love the idea of coffee-flavored icing on brownies! I really will have to try that.

Does anyone have a tried and true recipe for blond or butterscotch brownies? I had another aunt who made them with melted chocolate on top (I think she put Hershey bars on the hot brownies when they came out of the oven) and sprinkled with chopped walnuts.
