A comment And a link The following is the link to my previous topic that was found to be inappropriate, because it was cut and paste, and therefore blocked. It is a Patriotic post. Meant to inform and help. IT IS A LINK TO THE www.military.com website. http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,1331..._103004,00.html |

Buddy, Interesting article. What is your take on it? I thought that part about the success rate of the doctors being 33% on certain brain surgeries as opposed to 5% stateside was surprising. I might note that your last post was not found inappropriate because it was cut and paste, but because you didn't provide any personal input about what you thought of the article. I could cut and paste all day from a multitude of sources and post here, and while informative, it wouldn't be communicative. Hope you see the difference. |

My take. Really, it is a reminder of the horrors of war that many disregard in such short period of time. I know how a war has to be fought, for there to be a clear winner. My battle plans as set forth on the ATC forum. Were discarded as scare tactics. Tactics to cause Americans to cringe and back down. My take on this article? It is a witness to my foresight.. My take isn’t body count or medical miracles. But of human sacrifice. My take? If you are unwilling to fight a war like Sherman and the WW2 Army Air Corp. Stay out of the War business. Our smart bombs got us into a terrible mess fighting poor people with guns.. That’s my take.. |

I posted this picture on an old thread of mine so many may have seen it. A reminder of the death and destruction of war. To me an additional reminder of how much I was against the inital invasion of Iraq and how I have continued to be against it.

Pictures of National Cemeteries are always so sobering. We stop by to visit my aunt's final resting place south of here when we get a chance. It was also interesting to read of the learning curve we have as the enemy looks for the weak link and the surgeons relate injury information back to Washington for them to rework armour and strategy to stay ahead of the attack methods. |

I far from understand the current political mess. My heart tells me we have to get out of Iraq ( okay my mindset also ). But how is this to be accomplished. I am not satisfied with what the current administration is saying. |

When I was practicing public accounting, I would always ask people who were starting a business about their exit strategy. Seldom had they ever thought about getting out of the business and under what conditions and circumstances such a need might arise. We deserve leaders who have thought through a situation and all its possibilities or probabilities before taking action; we currently don't have those people in office. I'm not sure we will have them with a change of leadership. I wouldn't count on us getting out any time soon. |

The interesting thing is, when we think of the price of war, we often bring up the number of killed, putting little emphasize on the amount of wounded, and the ongoing price they will pay everyday. The wounded are often thought of as " the lucky ones" since they get to come home, and as a mother, of course I would rather have my child sent home wounded then in a coffin. BUT... coming home wounded, especially with head wounds and brain damage can be a life long sentence of pain, heartache, and struggle. A twenty five yera old man, married with a young child, comes back brain damaged and at the mental capacity of a child himself, now the wife is not " widowed" and the child is not " orphaned" but in reality they could be( depending of course of severity of injury) , a grown man unable to care for himself, and lets get real, most of us can not like Christopher Reeve, afford 24 hr care at 500,000 $ a year( price from mag article of Mr Reeves) . A grown man unable to support his family. That is the price of war, not just the numbers of dead, but the families and dependents of the wounded, forever affected. War always sucks, but sometimes it sucks even more then others, IMHO this is one war that sucks more then others. I respect and honor those who go, but I mourn those who do not return or do not return whole and healthy, and I cannot find justification for it. Who is being helped by this war. What is the goal, will it ever be accomplished? To rid the world of terroism, thats a huge task and not really possible. |
