This has the most information I've ever found on how these systems work.

Wonder if whoever is fixing Andrea's heating system have ever read that? She's been without heat for a very long time. It has to be very uncomfortable for her even if she is using one of her fireplaces to supplement the lack of heat. It's coming up November--it gets very cold in Minnesota. Our furnace hasn't come on yet during the daytime, but will very soon. We hardly ever touch the themostat, things just come on automatically. There are few worse than being too hold or too cold.

Sylvia, that link was for vehicle dash heat and ac.

The furnace repair men come no more. This last week I have gotten 3 contractor bids.

Week after next I am having new high efficient furnace, central air, and hot water heater installed. They are backed up so it will be that long.

the contractor who got the bid is not afraid of Karma. He has a 3 year old rottweiler named Abby.

Oh dear ... the week after next--that is a 'super' long time that you have been without heat. You must live in a very isolated community to have to wait that long for a contractor to install a completely new system.

Hope you have lots of wood for your fireplace. You certainly are one strong lady--my hat is off to you for enduring it so long. It is not something I would be able to do--feel the cold intently, partly because I have low blood pressure. Dress warmly Andrea.

Sylvia, I live in a large metropolis. Minneapolis/St Paul. Fall is busy season. Everyone is busy and I am not the only one without heat. I said install furnaces on the eldery first. That only seems right to me.

on edit. I too freeze with low blood presure. Gee whiz, I don't take any meds and my heart will last a long time more than likely. I am thankful.
