A Call From A Would Be Senator; Violating the no-call list rules

Yes, a would be senator violating state law. It was his voice, I hear it often enough on the TV. I didn't listen long enough for his spiel. I immedially called the proper department to report it and wouldn't you know, the line was busy, busy busy. I have patience. I finally got thru, listened to the voice mail menu, ignored the "push number" menu and waited for a real live person. Nah! Another menu wanting to know what district office. Had to push a darned button. Then I got an answering machine. By this time I am as ticked off by the agency as I am the would be senator. I did leave the message though. By the way, the fine for first offense is $100. They can poll with a licensed agency, they can solicit money for some charity and if you do business with a company, they can call. Politicians cannot campaign off the no call list. Will they do anything about it? Probably not and unfortunately I won't be here to follow this up but I won't forget it. I will await my answer in the mail. If I don't get one, I will call again. 800 number so all it takes is time. I love tilting at windmills.

I am on the list. I get called three times a day. No exaggeration. Yesterday Bill Clinton called me. Well it was his voice. A recording.

If I could get a hundred bucks from everyone that calls me I would be................................a politician.

So far I have been polled about five times this election. I must be on a list. Kinda blows the curve if you ask me.

I love having a cell phone. Nobody calls me but friends. And my kids, who usually are friendly.

My Mom is a different story. She has a land line and is besieged all day and into the evening hours by calls (at least 4 times a day lately), in spite of being on the do not call list. She is very nonconfrontational about it, meaning that she won't complain to them, but I hear about it !! Yet, when I offer to call, she won't let me. I think she just likes either to complain, or to be called, no matter who it is.

I got a return call from the agency and they have been beseiged with complaints about the calls. They will mail a complaint form for me to send back in which I will. I will have the PO send it to me when it arrives. Small town and that is easily done. Of course, little will be done about it but that is not the point. That is the first call for us this year. We don't have problems since the state started the no-call list a couple of years ago. Had to renew this summer. We are not in a target group anyway.

I had a pol call with a recording no less, doubly against the law I believe.

I didn't report it, but do.

I once got a fax at home from a company advertising something. Illegal. Contacted the FCC and the company, who gave me grief and hung up. Within days they called back and apologized. I gave them grief and hung up. :)

Report him!

I certainly agree with reporting wrong doing. Take for instance the kidnapping of Tony.

As I understand the law political solicitatations are allowed being as they are not sales calls. Calls for charitable contributions are allowed unless you inform the caller of your desire to not receive any more calls from them.

I think you are stuck with the calls till after the election or if you put one of the many blockers on your phone to stop the different organizations that still don't get the message you don't want to be bothered.

We screen all of our calls being as we are too cheap to pay for caller ID. Get lots of hangups. Maybe we missed a call from Bush or Kerry. I doubt it.

From the FTC:
"28. Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?

Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of "telemarketing." Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000.

29. What about telephone surveys?

If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered - that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry."

Wisconsin's no call list is more stringent than the federal one. No "support me" calls are allowed.

THAT is not Tony! It must be some redneck relative. Tony is much smaller, sweet and refined!

Chris, do as you like. I found my Tony where he was hidden away in captivity. He has a happy home with me now in my signature. Andrea
