I would like to suggest that the labels being used are not being applied correctly.

When we speak of "liberals" I find that those that agree with a conserative view are liberals. They are kind, caring, and considerate of others. Conseratives care about people and take steps to enhance everyone's quality of life. We desire more freedoms and less government intervention, and less government taxation.

We look at those who have held political command and power within of our inner cities for generations and have not improved them a wit. Can we call them liberal? What have they done for the people who reside within their political stronghold? Their schools are terrible, failing to educate students. They are the most at risk with the highest crime rates. They suffer the highest unemployment, and all this in the political strongholds, held for generations, of those that call themselves liberal. Are they really "liberal"?

What do you think. I think that the literal liberal may apply more to conseratives than others.

FUNNY CARTOON!    I sent it to my dad.

It seems to break down with the dogs (republicans) liking travel to foriegn lands - while cats (democrats) like to stay home. Although I'm conservative, and love to travel.

Some discussion!

Frank, if what you're saying is conservatives and liberals are both kind, caring, and considerate of others, I agree. The difference is not in character or values or any of the personally derogatory epithets Tery listed. No, they--generally speaking--each have character and value the same and seek to achieve the same.

However, clearly, they go about it in different ways. The process each promotes is different. If it weren't for the extremes of politicians, pundits and partisans--those political strongholds afraid to give up power, money and petty personal crap and discuss that process, those processes. What it would take is conservatives and liberals who are kind, caring, and considerate to stand up to those who only want to tear down what we have.
Politics is the art of achieving the maximum amount of freedom for individuals that is consistent with the maintenance of social order.
