The whole Oil for Food program mess is getting much more traction these days, and is starting to implicate big players. Many are hinting that while the UN will survive the scandal, is may be severily hobbled, and it's slide to irrelevance accelerated. Here's an interesting piece which says there are some documents surfacing that shows Saddam had some linkage with Al Qaeda thru this program. With all the billions of $$ flying around, everyone wanted a piece. Oil for Food linkages

Surprised no one commented on this. Perhaps it was discussed elsewhere. |

Extensively. And this article is grasping at straws to establish terrorist ties and lacking a sense of history told very well in the 9/11 Commission Report. |

Well sorry I missed that discussion, but it seems that the things coming out now regarding the Oil for Food program are new revelations. |

Exxon Mobil Corp., ChevronTexaco Corp. and Valero Energy Corp. are named in the investigation but the CIA lawyers ordered Duelfer to keep secret names of Americans and American companies" STORY JackD |

Well, I'm afraid I might be named in the Oil for Food scandel, but that doesn't negate the possibility that there are documents showing payments to Al Qaeda. |

Tery's strong argument "some documents surfacing that shows Saddam had some linkage with Al Qaeda thru this program" Tery's weaker argument "doesn't negate the possibility that there are documents showing payments to Al Qaeda" Story neither is based on "Now, buried in some of the United Nation's own confidential documents, clues can be seen that underscore the possibility of just such a Saddam-Al Qaeda link — clues leading to a locked door in this Swiss lakeside resort." Reads like Agatha Christie. |

We shall see, maybe. And I'm 100% positive about that! BTW - Did you read the full article, which is somewhat lengthy & complex - or did you just hit on my quote? This thing is a huge mess, with some very interesting implications (yes, probably traced to the US too). When dealing in the far-reaching complexities of the UN, one must be diligent & patient. |

There's links to Haliburton & through them Dick Cheney as well. When big money is involved, corporations have no conscience. |
