I can't wait for this election to be over! Living in a "swing" state is really getting disgusting! I can't stand to listen to the ads from EITHER side -- "the Liberals in Congress did this" OR the "conservatives are doing this." It's sickening! Not only this, but all the other political ads, from the Senate to the Clerk of Courts is sickening, too! Yes, indeed, we are hearing ads from the candidates for Clerk of Courts for this county! I'm sick of it, I tell you, just sick of it! November 2 can't come soon enough! I sure hope I'm not the only one . . . anyone else feeling this way? Julie |

NY is not a swing state, so I don't see what you do, but I'm sick of the whole thing anyway. You must be going nuts. We do have a senate race - Schumer against whomever the Republicans talked into running. TV ads for this only started last week. |

Hey Julie, I live in canada & I'm sick of it as well. We still have to watch all the negative ads on TV up here as well. I'm begining to wonder if anyone ever runs on their own merits rather than the flaws of their opposition. Maybe you should fill in who you "don't" want to vote for on ballots. It would be more consistent with the way campaigns are run these days. It denegrates the image of both parties. |

In reality, no, as, like Pat, TX swing is not in style. But the news and forums are full of it. What I get sick of is the PPPs--politicians, pundits and partisans. I really enjoy critical analysis and the exchange of ideas. The former makes us weak, the latter strong. I'm also tired of hearing "the Liberals in Congress did this" OR the "conservatives are doing this." when both sides are liberal and conservatives are rarely heard from, excluded from debates, and considered spoilers. |

I think I'll be bored after its over. But it will probably be a little calmer around here. I already get internet withdrawals if I'm away from computer overnight. |

Oh, yes, I was pretty good and sick of it almost as soon as it began. I think the elections would benefit from a strict set of rules such as we have on the forums; any flaming, negativism or personal attacks, and you lose points; three strikes and you're OUT! I know anything but positive ads sure make ME think twice about which way to cast my vote.. |

I didn't know it was possible to line up 4 or 5 political ads at one time, but this is the norm now and will probably remain so until next Tuesday. I'm sick of not having a good choice. Deciding which wastebasket receives my vote isn't what I'd really like to do with my vote. |

I must admit it makes me feel much better about our electoral process - 6-8-10 weeks, and WE'RE DONE! The original argument I heard against our system is that it doesn't allow enough time to explore the issues... How are you coming with your exploration? |

Breswter: Saw that Saint Ralph's tenure as prime Minister will be challenged next month. Is this only a formality or is there going to be some form of serious opposition? I think our 6-8-10 weeks is plenty. People are not stupid, If they can not make-up their mind in that period of time, they'll be as mixed-up after 6 months of thinking about it. If a politician can not make his point in 6 weeks time, he should stay home. JackD |

Jack; This will be Ralph's tightest fight since he originally took office. The Liberals and New Democrats think they have a real opportunity to show what they can do with all that money - they can "Fix" Medicare, Education, Roads, etc. all the stuff Ralph has held the reins on. The Green party has strong hopes. Also, there is a serious threat coming from the other direction. The Separatists and extreme right wingers feel that Ralph has been too soft on Ottawa, and blame him for Harper's defeat in the last Federal Election, with his premature annoncement on Medicare reform. This has potential to eat into the very conservative rural vote. All it would take is one stupid act by the Liberals in Ottawa in the next few weeks, and the Separatists would pick up major ground. Also, since Ralph has announced that this will be his last term, no matter what, and has acted like he could care less lately, many people are somewhat uneasy. He also doesn't seem to have much vision now that the debt's gone. Edmonton has never forgiven him for cutting the civil service by 30% when he first took over - as Capitol City, they took the brunt, and had a mini-recession all their own. All in all, it'll be tight... Pollsters don't think he'll be able to take much more than 75-80% of the seats this time (He has 91% right now...) |

Yes, it's getting difficult watching the race for the presidency day and night in this house. If (when) our candidate gets elected for another four years I will finally see a smile on Frank's face once again.

With the latest faux pas by the libs and Uncle Ralph's awarding of contracts, doubt they will be any threat. I just don't see any legitimates in the opposition. Those who wish to 'blame' Ralph for Harper's demise had better think twice and look at the electorate vote for conservative seats. And I agree with you - the libs and NDP's palms are itching so badly to get their hands on the money Ralph has saved so they can put us right back where we were before Ralph. spend, spend, spend. |

Tightest fight with 75%- 80% of the seats???? I think it will be very hard for any party to defeat Klein based on his record and the popularity he seems to enjoy. JackD |

You're quite right Jack. As I have said in several posts, the only person who could give Ralph trouble this time is PM Martin. If he gets stupid and tries to ram through something seen as Anti-Alberta, the separatists will have a field day, robbing Ralph of his most conservative base. What the opposition is really fighting for this election is a good position for next time, when Saint Ralph has gone to Politician Heaven... ![]() (There is one, isn't there???) :stooges: |
