Chris,

Fahrenhype 911 is available at Sam's Club--only $8.88 if I remember right. I watched it last night while the wife was out bowling. It takes the insinuations, assertions, accusations and downright lies in Fahrenheit 911 to task with counterpoints. Several folks who apparently appeared in MM's movie said they were misrepresented and taken out of context. As an example, one soldier was filmed at Walter Reed hospital for MM's movie. His comments were taken as an indication of how he did not receive adequate care after losing both arms. He stated what he actually described, was the pains he would have in his missing arms if he did not receive his medication. The teacher in the classroom where the President was during the tower attacks on 9/11 appeared in this movie. She said she did not vote for President Bush, but had nothing but good to say about how he acted during that episode. I haven't seen Fahrenheit 911--have no desire to enrich the lardass, but heard enough about it to where I think this movie is a good counterpoint.

Per, Not sure, however, how one can assume from secondhand information, most of which is plainly gross misrepresentation, what is and is not a good counterpoint. Two examples. One, I remember that scene with the soldier who had lost both arms. To be honest I don't remember it being played that way, but as straight what you say he said in Fe911. Two, the part of Ft911 that went on and on about the minutes in the classroom was plainly gross misrepresentation. How can you know what thoughts went through anyone's head at that world-changing moment.

Isn't that what happens in campaigns too?

It is worth watching though. How good it is would depend on the observer. However, MM should be challenged, since Fahrenheit amounts to an all-out attack on the President with very little in terms of facts.
Another item that was interesting was the assertion that the Clinton administration put a screening of airline passengers into effect, and that 8 of the 19 hijackers were actually detained under this policy. However, according to the movie, Clinton personally refused to do anything more than making sure the baggage of those detained went with them on the plane. Others in his administration wanted those detained under the screening policy to be questioned in more details.
On the other hand, the attempts in this movie to tie saddam to terrorists (like his rewards paid to families of Palestinian suicide bombers) are a bit weak.
Ann Coulter is good-looking in the movie, though!

I'm conservative, but I find her a little to vitreolic. For blonde conservatives in the media, I prefer Laura Ingram, but her humor can be pretty acerbic too.

In what way has it blown up in there faces?

Almost got distracted by the blondes!

It's mute because the explosives disappeared between January & May - before we even got there.

Weapons gone already

This is from Fox news, but other major outlets have it as well.

Per,

Oh, I agree, MM should be challenged. What you're saying is some of the first I've ever seen him challenged. He does present some facts, but also selects what he presents and presents some fictions and misrepresents some facts--as we are discussing. Most people pretend to challenge him by weakly calling him names.

I don't remember that part about Clinton in Ft911--perhaps I dozed for a spell. I'll watch Fe911 when it hits the video shops and enjoy separating fact from fiction and bias there too. Surely, there must be some fiction and bias in it, no?

Ann is as well practiced in the art of extremist BS as MM. I laugh everytime she calls herself a consevative. Nothing but a social conservative harpy. Saw Libertarian Boortz cut her down to size once as a hypocrit when she defended Rush for doing drugs. Even Rush I have tons more respect for.

What I want to know is why is Kerry trying to blame this on Bush, when he knows the story is bunk?

On edit - Oh yeah, that's why!

teryt,

Harry Truman said it best "The buck stops here"!

There's a good chance we weren't even in Iraq when the stuff was moved. And while it seems like a lot, comparing 350 tons with half a mill destroyed is relatively small (.07%).

Will you say that if we find out that is what is being used in car bombs to kill our soldiers? I'm not saying it is, but if it is?

teryt,
One thing is that the missing materials ARE NOT normal military explosives, they are dual use, conventional and nuclear, BIG DIFFERENCE! These explosives were far more dangerous than the stuff you're including in the bigger total.

Second we supposedly had the site under surveillance, so somebody should have know what was going on.

When you claim to be Commander in Chief you get all the blame as well as all the glory. Consider this the counterpart to landing on the carrier.

More recent eye-witness reports by reporters counter the initial report by a reporter the military investigated the site.

But wait, oh, my, Drudge says it was the Russians! Now it'll be a Cold Terror War.

hey, I thought you stopped reading Drudge?

What about this guy? Ach, he's probably lying...

Mohammed al-Sharaa, who heads the science ministry's site monitoring department and worked with UN weapons inspectors under Saddam, said "it is impossible that these materials could have been taken from this site before the regime's fall."

He said he and other officials had been ordered a month earlier to insure that "not even a shred of paper left the sites."

"The officials that were inside this facility (Al-Qaqaa) beforehand confirm that not even a shred of paper left it before the fall and I spoke to them about it and they even issued certified statements to this effect which the US-led coalition was aware of."

But if it disappeared before we got there, what is the point in trying to assign blame? If anything, it looks like the UN weapons inspectors might be culpable.
