![]() Hope no-one minds that I've posted this again. It's called the Glass Window Bridge (which was only one car wide). It's on Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas. A sliver of man-man engineering separates the Atlantic from the Caribbean. It was awesome to stand on the bridge and compare the two seas--one side invigorating and full of adventure (dark navy-blue with whitecaps), the other tranquil and restful (serene, pale blue-turquoise). But that picture that I found a couple of days ago on the Internet, doesn't come near to conveying how stirring that scene was the day I stood on that bridge. It's forever there in my memory! That is a truly amazing photo. Such different weather in such a relatively small area. It looks like another place I'd love to go. |

Heather, Same weather on both sides of the bridge--two different bodies of water and how they react to variables like wind, current and temperature, but the contrast is startling even in that photograph. The day I saw it, the Atlantic was much more active, with rollers, whitecaps and exploding spray, but the Caribbean was tranquil, quiet and inviting. It was separated by an old 8' wide bridge to stand on. It was an enigmatic vision with many associations for the mind. Sylvia |

Just took this one a couple of nights ago off the back deck. Resized a bit, so it's a tad pixelated. (Haven't had time to touch it up yet)...![]() RTD |

Stunning pic RTD... thanks. Do you have really dark skies where you are? We find them when we come North--the night sky lights up like a neon sign and the stars are clearly visible. Love looking at the Milky Way--it's often hidden when the sky is light polluted from nearby cities and towns. Very seldom get to see the Northern Lights unless we're further North and that it is an amazing sight. Did you know the Japanese highly prize pics of the aurorae borealis -- it's considered a symbol of good luck. Sylvia |

As you can tell, where I live hasn't been developed behind me, and it gets very dark back there. I haven't seen them lately, but I have watched the Northern Lights out my kitchen window before... RTD |

Oooh my favourite subject. Here's a photo of an aluvial fan I shot from a couple of hundred feet up. It's what happens on a dry lake bed when it rains. The rain runs off and forms tributaries and branches off to create natures art like this.
