Chris, I've been reading a couple of the latest discussions on US politics, which I've decided I should leave mostly alone, but I am reminded of one comment you made in my last Conservative Alberta thread:
The quote below is from Ralph Klein, our beloved Conservative leader, when asked his views on gay issues in general:
Is there anyone in the US who would ever make such a quote? On Edit: Maybe if there was, Saint Ralph could probably find a few hundred million in petty cash... |

Ralphie doesnt need any petty cash..... Alberta is the only province in my adult memory that no longer has a provincial DEBT. (not a deficit budget - a DEBT - they do not owe money any longer, they're "in the black"!) If this sounds like it's accompanied by a little jealousy, it's opnly because it IS.

Brewster, I'm sure there are plenty of conservatives who would say the same. It is conservatism. I quoted Goldwater on this issue the other night, no longer with us but just the same. After hearing Cheney the other day he might even say that. There are conservatives in the Republican Party, heck there are conservative Democrats. But you ask for third party conservatives. Michael Badnarik, Libertarian Presidential candidate on the issue: "Marriage partners, not government, should define the terms and spiritual orientation of their union in accordance with our nation's guarantee of religious freedom." |

Brewster, I'd move to Alberta except for the cold; my fiscal conservatism has temperature limits.

Chris, I'll send him a note.... But if you get the Softwood Lumber tariffs removed, you could probably finance the whole campaign on the money slopping over from the Brinks trucks heading north...
