JackD Hopefully, Parrish doesn't represent too large a piece of the Canadian public ... She's about as rabidly anti-american as anyone I've heard - I'm amazed the Liberals haven't tossed her out of the party long ago.

Most comments in today's paper have been critical of Ms Parrish. Still, she has recently been re-elected even after her earlier comments that garnered so much attention. Here is a list of today's reactions. Globe & Mail "Maverick MP Carolyn Parrish has rejected Prime Minister Paul Martin's request to withdraw her comment that the United States and other missile-defence supporters comprise a 'coalition of the idiots.' She said yesterday that her verbal attack was aimed only at supporters of missile defence -- not all Americans, or even the U.S. government -- but that she didn't regret her comment or the way it was phrased. 'This is a very apt word."Parrish defies Martin in U.S. 'idiots' uproar |

I don’t particularly care to have politicians or others for that matter described as idiots, or other derogatory terms. I would address this response to Ms. Parrish’s comments about those involved in missile defense. To say what I wish would not be constructive to air on the forum, since she is not a member. If someone could be kind enough to give me her e-mail or other address I would be happy to communicate directly to the author of the remark Frank |

I don't dislike the man, just several of his policies and advisors, he like Carter is a good man and a marginal president. |

That that person does not recognize a radical elitist (Bush) when he sees one? |

Many good posts here. I would have to say that Bush is the most globally hated President we have ever had. But what of the alternative - Kerry? Will he be our secular messiah? |

Shouldn't the "radical" be taken out of that sentence and just say elitist? B) |

Yes, if we limit our view only to his education and his putting some people above others in terms of civil rights. But such a narrow view removes the broader context of social conservatism being just as radical as socialism in wanting to change through social engineering the status quo we have and continue to arrive at systemically and historically. His view is just as unconstrained, just as liberal, just as radical. |
