'morning Folks,

The biggest snow Storm in almost 4 years is already in PA heading to NY and New England. Forecasts are for ice and sleet along the coast to 2 feet of snow further inland. It's been awhile since I handled a shovel, so I'm ready! Two feet is nothing compared to some of the lake effect snow that fell in Western NY. How's 11 feet sound? I'm still waiting to see more pictures of that.

Today is my routine visit with the doc. Looking for BP of 115/75; LDL <80, and HDL >40. This is the first check of cholesterol since Ive been using a statin, so it should be interesting.

Youz guys have a nice day,

JM

Staying healthy isn't as exciting as eating donuts, but it becomes more important as we get older.

Those targets are set by Dr. Jonathan Sackner Bernstein "Director of Clinical Research at the Heart Failure Prevention and Treatment Clinic at the Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy Center at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York." His book, "Before it Happens to You" describes the progression of heart disease from youth into older age--the age of most of us here, and suggests a line of defense against heart attack and stroke. Click Here for info about the Before It Happens to You Plan.

My numbers were pretty good. BP was a bit higher than I'd like, but I had drank a pot of coffee before the appointment, so 122/80 wasn't bad. That's lower than the national guidelines, but those guidelines are just that--I aim for the best. Cholesterol is where it should be, although HDL went down a bit (that's the good one). I'm now adding a script for fish oil, which I'll enjoy about as much as eating fish, but what the heck....

Youz guys stay healthy, see a doc if you haven't done so lately,

JM
