'morning Folks,

Unusually strong winds around here this morning. But as usual, things could always be worse. Areas to the north and west are getting significant lake effect snow. Here, the sun is shining most of the time.

Not much on the agenda today. Youz guys have a nice day,

JM :coffee:

Brrr. Not as cold as it HAS been the last few nights but it's down at the freezing mark (32 F) this morning with a light wind. Thankfully there is BRIGHT sunshine to warm things up. Still waiting to see some snow on the ground, all we've gotten so far were flurries that didn't stick. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't "complain". Hopefully everyone will throw some extra fuel in their stoves so we can speed up the global warming (IF it really exists) LOL !

That was the week that wasn't!

The wife and I went out to dinner Saturday night and (as is so often the case) I ate a bit more than I knew I should. No problem - lay down for a few minutes and the problem will pass.

It didn't.

Spent most of Saturday night throwing up and once the system was empty I felt much better. Sunday was a tough day where it felt like I was throwing up everything I ate - it felt that way because I was! Figured it was just a bad stomach flu.

It wasn't.

Got up Monday morning with the whole system emptied out again and we decided to try the slow approach by starting off with Pedialyte pops - a substance given to babies when it seems they can't hold down anything else. If you can't handle a Pedialyte, you are in serious trouble.

I was.

After being unable to hold down a pop, we decided it was time for a trip to the Emergency Room at Northside Hospital. After a barium swallow and CT scan of the old digestive track, it was discovered I had an obstruction of the small bowel - never a good thing.

I was quickly sent to surgery where the obstruction - a small loop of the small intestine - was found to be pinched by the jejunum and it was released without any need to resect part of the bowel. Unfortunately, after surgery I was found to be suffering a paralytic ileus - the bowel just quits working - and had to stick around the hospital until it decided to wake up and resume its normal bowely functions. That finally happened yesterday (Friday) and got sprung from the joint late yesterday afternoon.

All in all, not a very pleasant week. But, it's good to be back home and I'll start catching up on the doings of the system.

Good to see you back in one piece, Eric! Chris asked this morning if you had mentioned any travel plans, and the only thing I was aware of was a trip to Home Depot last weekend.

:faint: Good Grief Eric....when it rains it pours on you. My heart stopped for a second when I read "obstruction". I was thinking "lesion". I am so very glad for you it was not. Makes us appreciate the good days alittle bit more doesn't it :)

Take care of yourself and hugs from MN...

Believe me, it's good to be back!

The only travel plans (only - HA! - it is the big trip of each year!) is the Winter Star Party in the Keys. Leaving for the Keys on Friday, February 9th and taking a leisurely 3 days to drive down. Spending Friday night at Payne's Prairie State Park in Micanopy, Florida. Saturday will be a short leg down to Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Jupiter, Fl and Sunday will spend the night at the Fiesta Key KOA around Mile Marker 70 in the Keys. The star party starts on Monday and it's a short hop from MM 70 to MM 34 where the party is held.

I'd asked because I was worried, you'd disappeared off the face of the planet! Was hoping it was the Winter Star Party in the Keys, think you mentioned something a while ago, and hoping not what happened. Glad to see you back and kicking!
