So many good pictures get posted. Its too bad pix can't convey the true feeling. Grandma, Mother, Sister and kitchen. Wife or girlfriend. All have scents they leave behind. Dad, brother, coworker. I like to close my eyes and remember. And when I do that, its not the visual, not the sights, it is the smell. The smell of comfort and security when my Dad wrapped his arms around me as I napped. The scent of daintiness and innocence that tells me this is a private place and I as a kid am not allowed. The scents of the kitchen that invite me. The people and times in my memory all have scents that just cannot be captured in a photo. I like the photos, but what I seek in a photo is a trigger to the senses that have no image. |

I was reading an article about perfume and how the scent changes over the day, from the first 5 or 10 minutes to the second or third hour and then what lingers. Trying to educate myself. Part of being "the New Joel." |
