My wife's 2002 Alero suddenly wouldn't start the other day - lots of juice, but turn the key and - nothing.... no click, no turning-over, nothing. Called BCAA as we are members and the tow driver was stumped, too. Sent it to our usual shop where they eventually determined the car had somehow "forgot" my wife's key (mine worked, but we didn't think of it at the time)
90 bucks to find out that if it ever happens to you, put the key in the ignition, turn it to the "ON" position, and wait 10 minutes while it reprocesses the data.

(at 10 minutes, I'm guessing there's a Commodore 64 in this story somewhere! :faint: )

It should then start.

Or an abacus. 10 seconds, sounds like Windows booting up.

You've been on this Earth how long and you still need a key???

My next car is not gonna have locks. That only invites broken windows.

And Key heck, I've worn out keys. I want a toggle switch or maybe something on the floor I can push with my foot.

This was not the lock in the door, jrf, it was the ignition.
