I advocate less government of all aspects of freedom, economic, social/personal, and political.

I vote the same, more or less. Just kidding! I voted less - especially at the federal level.

As an addendum to the poll question, which political parties support more or less government?

The obvious answer to that is the Republican & Libertarian parties. At least that's the talk, but often times the actions of the pubs don't seem to match up.

Republican Party for less government?

It started with Lincoln, a big government president. Rehnquist, in his book on the Supreme Court, actually traces it back to Hamilton, but is clear, the Republican Party has always favored big government, as has the Democrat Party. There was a brief spurt of interest in limited COnstitutional government with Goldwater, but social conservativism since Reagan, has pushed big government, especially under Bush.

Libertarian Party, yes, but it's doubtful Libertarians will ever be powerful politically.

It is Human nature, IMO.
Give a freedom loving person the adulation of millions (being elected) and a enormous (tax) fund to spend, he/she will desire to control/regulate the masses, it massasges the ego to even larger Government.

We seem to elect an inordinate number of attorneys to federal senate and house seats. It's even more to their human nature to regulate and control. Then we have the judicial branch.

"It is Human nature, IMO."

Quite possibly also human nature to shun responsibility and accept dependency.

"I wonder who answered "more" - and why?"

An honest person at least. :)

Honest perhaps - but foolish, IMO. Unless that person is in the unenviable position of getting more out of a government than they are able to provide themselves, and therefore "to Hell with the cost", they're ahead of the game.

No more foolish than the dishonest person who says he for smaller, limited government--except cof course that government which promotes his or her personal beliefs.

The only personal belief I would like my government to share with me... is a desire not to share my beliefs with a government.

Beliefs may have been a poor choice of words, but I would prefer a government, no matter how small or large, to represent me and my beliefs (i.e., opinions, principles, values, and the like). One of the problems I see with big government is it tends to represent itself, politicians seeking power for themselves, and special interests that keep it in power, rather than its constituents.
