This is primarily for those that agree with a college professor who said that words do not have meaning but rather people have meaning and give meanings to words. "Pimp" gets dressed up

Baaaad! Words, though, have denotations and conotations. Denotations are sort of basic meanings, what we would all understand as "standard". Connotations are what we add or read into words, the sort of emotional content that varies from person to person, and causes lots of trouble (especially on forums where words are all we generally have). Slang, being non-standard by definition, is mostly connotative. |

Agree....Pimps in reality are very bad people, ops... very evil people, exploiting young women to their own benefit. Why do we always have to spin evil things into good things? Hmmm..... Isa 5:20 |

Same as Romans 13:9. How is the Golden Rule condemnatory? |

Oh, I so confuesed. College professors created pimps, which now remodel living rooms for housewives. And this has to do with the books of Isaiah, Leviticus, Romans and Christians that hate gays? I don't think I understand at all. Well this tells me something important. I will not be refurbishing the interior of my mh anytime soon. |

Being cool has never been one of my priorities so I doubt if I will be adopting it. Slang has and always been with us and what is off color today may be an accepted usage tomorrow or be on the lingustic ash heap. |
