I thought these rebuttals of an article entitled "An Inconvenient Truth" by Joe Morgenstern were interesting.

From seemingly not-so-stupid men:

The Sky Is Falling!
Well, Probably Not
from 6/4/06 WSJ, "Letters to the Editor" secton

"...Al Gore's latest message on global warming, a current popular TV commercial came to mind: ‘No I'm not a scientist, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.' Mr. Gore might come across as a compelling teacher, but his qualifications to teach atmospheric science are nil.

"There are many unanswered questions regarding the issue of ‘global warming,' which turns out to be a relative thing. I have yet to hear scientists tell us what the world was like in 986 A.D. when the Vikings sailed into Greenland and then stayed to farm there for some 300 years. There isn't much farming in Greenland today.

"The state of atmospheric science is still tenuous. The availability of supercomputers allowed scientists to test their models more thoroughly, but basic problems remain in the understanding of the dynamics of the earth's atmosphere and how it is affected by the lithosphere and, especially the sun.

"The only inconvenient truth is that there are considerable gaps in our understanding of the earth's atmosphere. Ti wasn't very long ago that you could hear claims it was aerodynamically impossible for a bumblebee to fly; yet bumblebees fly. The problem wasn't that bumblebees defy the laws of aerodynamics; it was that aerodynamics was not up to the task of explaining why bumblebees fly."
by Gerald P. Hammer

AND

"The real inconvenient truth(s) about global warming are: 1) the tortured attempts by true believers like Al Gore to blame it all on the human race through such preposterous claims that it is due to tiny increases of alleged human origin in the trace amounts of ‘greenhouse gas' in the atmosphere, and 2) the ongoing contribution such specious environmentalist alarmism is making to the situation in which America seems to stagger from one energy crisis to another. What scares me is not global warming, but how close Al Gore got to the White House, and that he still might get there." by Donald R. Spalding

The same might be said for origins (scientific vs ID) truths

Right, both are religiously based on emotion and myth.

Gore should be awarded Drama Queen of the Year for his performance.
Politics is the art of achieving the maximum amount of freedom for individuals that is consistent with the maintenance of social order.
