Friday May 26th, 2006; A busy day

Same old ho hum stuff. Beautiful morning, birds singing, coffee brewing, and the ever present "nutrition bar" is sitting on the counter, glaring at me.

Today should be a busy day, and hopefully, things will go better than the last few Fridays. I will not mention the "R" word for fear of jinxing it.

I wacked my head hard last night. Surprised I woke up this morning. It is starting to throb again, so maybe I will take one of those pain pills. Hate to do that, but I really don't have time for a headache, and I don't "cowboy up" nearly as well as I use to.

Hey, Derrick. Good luck going back to work, and enjoy every minute of being Elisabeth's Daddy. Before you know it, she will be a teenager and you will be yearning for those simple messy diaper days. Keep in touch.

'morning Folks!

Hey Ken, I figured busy day meant getting ready to race...isn't there a lot of that on holiday weekends?

It's 57F here this morning! In the middle of summer we'd say this is way to hot for an overnight temp. Gotta be low 50's to cool the house off. It will get warmer each day, and with that comes thunderstorms, but they will be scattered. Summer will be here by next week with temps in the 80s.

Maybe today I can get some large pots filled for tomato and pepper plants. They do well on the front porch. And the slug population stays low. Potatoes could probably go in today too--after all, it is Memorial Day weekend, and that signals planting time around here.

Yawl have a good day, stay warm, stay cool, stay dry,

JM

Good morning, everyone.. a mild and beautiful morning, sun coming through now and then, but it's supposed to rain tonight and into tomorrow. Good; I put the tomatoes in yesterday! Still have to plant the peppers and eggplant.

Last time my youngest was here, she brought four beautiful fresh eggs from her ducks. This morning I made an onion/sweet pepper/cheese omelet with two of them; more than enough for Mom and me. They made the richest and fluffiest omelet ever!

Now I have to go shopping; daughter # 4 is coming for lunch...

Good morning, all,

The temptation to start this thread REALLY early was strong; I was thinking about doing so at 2AM when I came in from the telescope for a break. But, since I hadn't been to bed yet, it seems wrong somehow and any posting should have been on yesterdays. Ok, I'm not awake yet and probably babbling. Get that way when I stay up after my normal 11 pm bed time.

It was a lovely night with clear skies and surprisingly cool for Florida at this time of the year. Actually got cool enough after 1 AM to put on a sweat shirt and turn off the AC in the trailer. Spent the early part of the night digging out unobserved (by me) galaxies in Corvus (the Crow) and then moved to Omega Centuri - the largest globular cluster in the sky. It doesn't rise high for those in Florida, but gets high enough to make me want to travel to New Zealand and see that puppy overhead!

Finally closed up the scope and went to bed around 3 AM. A most satisfying night.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend, y'all and, if traveling - get home safe.

.....isn't it nice to have a relaxing hobby where you can sit back and go "Ahhhh!".....I gotta find a hobby for myself.....gotta relax once in a while, use to fish off the Train Tracks along the Hudson River and use the fish caught to go Crabbin' the next day.....problem being lack of time.
*Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming- "Wow!, What a ride!"

*A good friend will bail you out of Jail...A true friend will be sitting next to you saying "Boy, was that fun!"

John, I am trying not to use the "R" word today so I don't jinx our trip to the "R"ing track this weekend. But, you are correct, we do a lot of "R"ing on holiday weekends.

Eric; When you mentioned traveling, I thought you were going to say Omega Centuri for a moment. Thinking that is one hell of a commute, but the view would be awesome.

Well, we are about out of here for the weekend. Soon as Peggy gets back, I will go get the trailer, pick up the car, point it South and pull the trigger.

We have instructions to be back at Kylie's house for Monday's cook-out. Not a problem, and I get some quality K-time.

Talk to you next week so until then, please have a great holiday, and Be Of Good Cheer!!!

Oooooo....I thought you meant the other *R*. What it started doing while I was planting the last row of potatoes. But now I don't have to water them in, so that's OK.
A little more *R* for me, and some *R* for you...
