Reading the opposing views on immigration in Universalism vs. Nationalism and Immigration and the Nation-State, the former arguing you are a globalist or a nationalist, the latter, a nationalist or a localist, got me to thinking about this on the issue of immigration--broader than just the illegal immigration issue. The question actually applies to any issue.

So you don't need to read the articles to understand the distinctions. Where would you like to see the seat of government located? Where would you like to see government concentrated?

It appears to me that there is a contradiction here. Government simply cannot be centralised and localized at the same time.

We need to go back to the idea of state sovereignty and drastically cut back on the Federal government. Fact is, Federalist/leftist courts have allowed them to go all manner of places where they have no authority under the Constitution, places reserved to the states.

The Department of education comes quickly to mind.
