Up early, took a couple days off to recharge. Wish I could say I accomplished something while recharging, but can't. We saw DaVinci Code and met friends for lunch one day, played cards, and watched TV. Have a great day! |

John, what did you think of the movie? Had you read the book first? |

We listened to the book on a trip a while back; the movie followed fairly closely, but the book was scarier I thought. The monk in the book seemed mostly evil, while the monk in the movie seemed more deranged. Overall, I don't see the big hoopla over it; good entertainment and that's about it. |

'morning Folks! Nice to see so many regulars up and about (although not making coffee)! The folks in Soapbox are on their second << DaVinci Code >> thread, check it out if you like debate and the exchange of new ideas. Another sunny day in the northeast--it's supposed to start warming up--maybe winter is finally over! Coffee is ready, but breakfast isn't. Yawl have a good day, stay warm, stay cool, stay dry, JM Good luck with the presentation, Doc, keep it interesting.... |

Good Morning fellow Cafe patrons. Another one of those "ho hum" nice days. This is my favorite time of year. The nights are no longer cold, and the days have yet to get excessively hot. Soon, I will be looking forward to late Autumn and cooler days. Until then, I have many things to accomplish. The very first on that list is to find something to kill and eat. diets are beneficial and all that, but much can be said for a thick steak grill to "rare" perfection. Can't do that at work, but a Salisbury Steak will do. OK, OK, make that a stupid nutrition bar. My time will come, and I will take full advantage. Gotta go before I work myself into something that Peggy will frown upon. She is a mean lady when she discovers that I have strayed. Mean, mean lady. Later Ken Gasbarri |

Did you ever lose something big? Something as big as a weed-wackker? A gas powered weed-wacker? I can picture it--on the ground--drying after I cleaned it at the end of last season. So where is it now? I checked the shed, basement and garage. I looked high and low--just in case I hung it on the ceiling or stuffed it under a shelf! I looked again, and then a third time! There are not that many places for a weed-wacker to hide--this will drive me nuts....

Nothing exciting today. Finished getting the telescope, truck and trailer ready for the trip to Chiefland and will be on the road tomorrow about 6 AM - anything to get a jump on Atlanta rush hour traffic! The Chiefland weather reads like a typical Florida summer forecast: highs in the upper 80's, lows in the lower 70's and a 20% chance of afternoon and evening thundershowers. Except for the occasional hurricane, they can use that same forecast from the middle of March until the beginning of December! Jupiter will be well placed for observing during the early evening hours, but I expect to spend most of the time digging out deep sky objects from the Summer Milky Way. Hundreds of nebulae, open and globular clusters and galaxies if you want to look around our own galaxy's dust clouds. Should be a fun weekend! Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day celebration. Hard to believe spring is almost gone and summer upon us. |

Eric, have a great trip, and I wish you clear skies and balmy nights (though I know they don't often go together!) Hoping for some good pics when you return! |
