Great observation, DocInBird (what is that short for anyway!?)! I'm becoming more aware of just how much our culture is heavily influenced by marketing. The last marketing class I took was something of an eye opener, to see the extremely sophisticated methods that marketeers use on us - much, I think, to the detriment of our society.

I'm also aware that certain political groups are using these tactics to further their agenda, and get society to eventually accept their views (i.e. boiling the frog). One book I read recently, "The Marketing of Evil," even postulated that there was one great marketing mind behind it all - with the goal of dragging the entire world's culture down into the "abyss." Interesting reading.

Anyway, both men & woman are constantly bombarded with these messages in all the media, and now from their peers who have been unwittingly recruited. Personally, I never understood why women accepted certain unpractical things which are now the norm - for example make-up, high heels, dresses, wigs & high maint. hair, etc. (but I think women got part of their revenge with the neck tie!). Of course, Freud would have an answer!
