If I'm saying this right (I just typed write, so I may be off on the wrong foot!) 1.Merge the first Welcome in Sub-forums into Topics if it can be done chronologically. 2.Pin Newsletter in Pinned There would then be no Sub-forums. Is that possible? Or would the software make the current Pinned things into Sub-forums...which would not be good???? Just my 2˘. |

Newsletter is a Sub-forum. Cannot be pinned. |

Can't it be moved? If it is going to be done quarterly it doesn't seem necessary to retain it as a Sub-forum. |

I think John suggested earlier, just pin the current newsletter. No need to archive, move all old newsletter threads into Cafe ("general population"), then delete Newsletter as a subforum. That's what I understood John to say. Sort of. I thovught John was saying the same for Welcome, right? Pat, why don't you co-lead Cafe with John and you too can get together and decide??? |

I'd be happy to do that, but what about Campfire? If someone will help in Campfire, that would be fine, but I don't want sole charge of that and help in Café. |

That's what I was saying. However, there would still be sub-forums: -Welcome (The Campfire Soapbox Welcome that is now pinned below) -New Member Map -Message Board Invite These need to be retained, either as subs or pins. They certainly can't go down to Technobabble, or we'll be worse off than before the changes started. If they were pinned (along with Newsletter), that would mean no subs and 4 pins. Less headings, which would bring the "message of the day" up a bit on the screen. Then comes: Pages (currently 44)... Forum Title Important Topics Pinned - Current Newsletter (for a month or so if quarterly) Forum Topics Message of the day. ... ... Ok, I just looked it over...forget the sub-forum idea... All four: -Welcome (The Campfire Soapbox Welcome that is now pinned below) -New Member Map -Message Board Invite -Newsletter Could be pinned, the headers would go away, and it would be a short scroll to the daily message. The term "message board" is rather generic, so it would be possible to leave Message Board Invite as it is and change: "We invite all of you to join in on the daily thread in Message Board a place to meet...." to "...Cafe..." |

Please, look at image posted. You need to understand the differences between forum area, sub forum area, pinned topic and topic. -Welcome (The Campfire Soapbox Welcome that is now pinned below) sub-forum -New Member Map pinned topic -Message Board Invite pinned topic -Newsletter sub-forum You cannot mix and match. The forum software won't let us. Please go back and see picture. |

I was suggesting:
This section would go away: ![]() And be replaced by one additional Pinned topic....more than a fair trade IMO. There would no longer be any sub-forums. JM |

![]() I think John and I are saying the same thing. Add Newsletter to the above, but lose Business Cards. Older than old. What are now classed as Pinned would move to the top. The sub-forums would be gone - unless these have to become sub-forums? |

Cannot be done like that is what I'm saying. Sub-forums cannot be pinned. Sub-forums are not threads! Here's what you can do--maybe it's what you're thinking: Forum: No Sub Forums (move subforum Welcome threads and Newsletter subforum threads to Cafe) Important Topics: Welcome thread (add Message Invite to it) Latest Newsletter Member Map (could be moved to TechnoHelp) Forum Topics: Everything else.... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, go back to my picture and use that language, those words. I give up if you don't! |

This was me...I Which is what I said. I am following the picture and trying my best to use those words. No sub-forums. Pin whatever needs pinning in Important Topics. Move the map anywhere it works. A campfire welcome - generic not personal - works as does the latest issue of the Newsletter. Where did the Guide go? I know I just saw it somewhere. Put everything else chronologically in Café but make sure something points to the Daily Thread. |

I'm fine with that, with one thought...where we are speaking now "Thinking" was started in About - I think Would Forum Discussion be better pinned with the topics John suggested so it would not impede the chit-chat...which is what Messages was all about.
