Glad you finally got your coffee, John. I had some extra but I didn't see how I was going to get it to Delhi before it got cold. Patticake, I hope you found some too.

Silverwinger! How amazing to find someone here who knows my aunt and uncle! I am so thrilled and will certainly show them this page. I'm so glad you posted. The internet is a truly wonderful thing.

Well, I have shopped, gone to the liquor store for Riesling and some Grand Marnier, made the dessert (apple cream mousse and lemon snaps), and prepped the ingredients for the quiche (ham, leeks, and three cheeses), and the salad (my old standby: romaine, scallion, almond and Mandarin orange with garlic dressing). I'll make some Irish oatmeal bread in the morning (will put the recipe on Seasonings, but I have to find it first. This is one of Auntie Sal's recipes so I have to do it right!)

I also vacuumed and washed some crucial windows. Why do they always seem so much dirtier in March? It must be the angle of the sun.

Silverwinger, I wonder...in 1986 I visited Gustavus from Juneau by seaplane with my Dad (returned by a regular plane with some other passengers). Would you have been one of the pilots? (Wouldn't THAT be something!)

Sorry I wasn't a pilot, I worked for RCA Alascom, we handled all the Long distance communications for the whole State, I did technician/Installer work all over the State and was always in the air flying to remote areas to maintain or install the various equipment, usually by small charter planes or helicopters.....

My mistake. I think I assumed from your name that you were a flier.

Some of those pilots are legendary in their own right!!

Well, here it is 9:30 at night, and my day is slowly coming to an end.

Had quite a day. Think I mentioned that I had to get a Colorado driver's licensee. Simple enough task for a morning. NOT.

I have applied for and been issued a licensee to drive by many, many states, and have never had as many problems as I have had in Colorado. Now granted, this was the first time I have applied for a licensee in Colorado since 9/11 and can understand things have changed, but a little common sense and reason must be applied.

I got to the driver licensee office first thing this morning, and was about 5th or 6th in line. No problem. I get my turn, and show the lady my licensee from South Dakota and explain that I will need a Colorado licensee. She tells me that I will need another form of ID. OK, I can understand that. What form of ID will work?

Well, a military photo ID (current), a passport not expired over ten years, a alien work permit, or a certified copy of my birth certificate. I am not active military, my passport expired in 1993, and being a citizen, I have no need for a green card. I do however have a certified copy of my birth certificate, so I return 30 minutes later with said certified copy of birth certificate in hand, only to be told it is not acceptable. Well, OK, why is it not acceptable? Well because it says certified copy of birth RECORD. We need to have a certified copy of your birth CERTIFICATE. Well, it does say on the back, that this is a true copy of the ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE OF BIRTH on record in said county. But it is NOT a CERTIFICATE, it is a RECORD, and we need to have a CERTIFICATE. You can however take this down the street and get a certified Colorado birth CERTIFICATE and then bring it back here and use it as ID to get your licensee. So, I can use a document that is NOT valid to get a driver's licensee to get a document that IS valid to get a driver's licensee. I fail to see what the extra step has accomplished. The birth RECORD won't get me a licensee, but it is good enough to get me a CERTIFICATE that will get me a driver's licensee. OK, that would work for me with one exception. If anyone were to see the certified Colorado CERTIFICATE of birth, they might think I was born in Colorado, and naturally assume that I was crazy just like you people.

As it turns out, I drove about twenty miles up the road to another office, walked in, presented my South Dakota driver's licensee and my Michigan certified copy of birth RECORD and walked out 15 minutes later with a Colorado driver's licensee.

I guess the gal was having a bad day or what ever, but it sure did make my day a bit more interesting than I had anticipated.

Tomorrow, I have to get a physical and drug screen. Can't imagine what adventures that will bring.

Later

Dragin, I am pretty good at imagining that as well, having been a professional driver for 22 years.

I look forward to your recounting of the adventures of today. You have a fun way of telling a story.

Chrissy, thanks....not exactly young, almost 46...which by any measure is better than 65... :faint: Terrible what time does to us.

Drag........that is unbelievable! :faint: Like Colorado (or any state) would issue any kind of birth "record" or "certificate" for a person NOT born there. :faint:

I think she was having more than just a bad day. :floorrollin: :floorrollin:
