'morning Folks

Looks like I'm making coffee for myself and 2 guests. I hope they brought bagels, but somehow, I doubt it.

Looking out the living room window, I see no snow at all!! This is progress. And it's 31F, that must be a sure sign of spring. I might get tempted to dewinterize the coach.

Friday's sure come around fast these days. Summer will be over in no time at this rate. But as I've been saying all week, today is the day that I'll get a few things done...

Yawl have a good one... I'll be back later to look for new pix. Somebody must be catching big fish, or something...

G'Morn'n,

Here's a pic of the portable fireplace that Heather and I sat beside last night wining and dining:
Posted Image

Heather cooked a nice steak which we ate while sipping Beaujolis until it was time for a late harvest Gerwurtzimeiner; yum!

We've had a nice visit & she finally caught a few big, fighting fish yesterday; unfortunately they were big ugly Bowfin (Mudfish). But it was fun catching them and seeing a living fossil. I understand they are the oldest unchanged bony fish - about 100 million years with no changes. Talk about fitting an evolutionary nich!

Last night was the first try for the fireplace & it worked well; the X shaped grate folds up to store flat in the enameled ash catcher (broiler pan) for storage. The grass underneath did not survive.

Dave

PS I hope a pic of an un-natural thing is ok for the morning report; I'm new to this game!

Good morning, John; where is everyone today?

I was up much earlier this morning in spite of all the wine last night; slept like an absolute log. It is beautifully cool at night still; no heat or cooling needed. I am trying to get hold of my brother to see if I can wangle one more day here, but I'm still starting to pull up stakes in case the answer is no.

The sun is shining bright on the Spanish moss, which is swaying in a fresh breeze, and the moor hens and little blue heron are always in view. I saw a swallow-tail kite yesterday. Hardly any mosquitoes yet; the place is like heaven.

Whether or not I can stay, I still have til this afternoon and will be making thhe most of it. Have a wonderful day, everyone, and I'll be on again when I return home.

Chrissy and Frank, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to two wonderful people!

Good Morning,
So nice to see Heather signed on, I thought she would be on her way home by now. Sounds like you guys had a great time, fishing, wining and dining. Great fire, just though there would be a coffee pot in the picture. :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

JohnM, what's on the list to get done today? I have a few things to do, but that can wait til tomorrow. :fryingpan:

The next few days will only get into the high sixties, evenings into the 30's. I think we're going to break some records. I'm looking forward to it, most likely be our last big cold front.

Red headed woodpecker just got his morning breakfast in the feeder right by the window.
I think I forgot to mentioned to Heather about red tailed hawks all around the house the morning she left. We were sipping our coffee on the porch, what a racket they made and what a sight.

Safe trip home Heather.
Happy Friday to all.
Chrissy

Thanks Wolfie, we don't have anything planned, back to the doctors today. Thanks for the delicious looking breakfast.

Heather, a swallow tailed kite? How exciting. Hopefully your brother will stay another day with your Mom. :)

Those mudfish can sure tear up a fishin' plug, but they're exciting to catch. Looking forward to the weekend and more sleep.

Friday's sure come around fast these days. Summer will be over in no time at this rate.

John - bite your tongue!!!
Or, as in a line used several times in a 70's Donald Sutherland WWII movie, Kelly's Heroes - "Enough with the negative waves, Moriarity! Enough with the negative waves!"

I'm reminded of one of my older Uncles when I was growing up. He was a grain-farmer in Saskatchewan. There could be a bumper crop in the fields toward the end of summer, good warm weather as the wheat headed out, prices could be nice and high - and he would drawl "Yeah, but we could still get hail...."
