'morning Folks!

Guess I should have moved to NC when I had the chance! This is getting boring...every other morning--lake-effect snow showers! I want green grass!

Spent most of yesterday setting up the new internet service and changing my email address in a thousand places. Today I will get back to real life not matter what. And then there's this
Quote:

I had rack of lamb; enough for three people and cooked perfectly rare as I like it. YUM! I almost never get lamb and it was so flavorful and tender. I ate half last night and the rest for breakfast; I almost think it tasted even better this morning! Caesar salad and good bread with this, and sauteed baby spinach with garlic.
I haven't had rack of lamb in 9 years. I still remember the day--it was very good, tho. I have shoulder lamb all the time, but that doesn't quite measure up to a rack.

Hope everybody on the sick-list is feeling a bit better today! Everybody else can grab a cup of (strong) coffee and start your day--have a good one!

JM

Always room for more here, John ;)

Seems like when moving anymore we all take our chances...weather so bizarre.

Good morning all!

:toot: :toot:

Wake up everyone. Nearly 10 on the east an only 2 posts!!! :faint:

Finally, blue sky and lots of sun....gonna warm up slowly. Gonna be near 70 today and 80's by the weekend. But, JM, no green grass around here. Those VERY far and few between places that even have grass, it is pretty brown. I'll take brown over white covered, tho.

Feeling better today, so I gather tomorrow I should be back to my old self. Not sure that is so good, but better than nuthin. :floorrollin:

Have a great day all!

Good morning! Gorgeous day here at Chrissy and Frank's and we were out by eight on their lovely porch/veranda having coffee and bird watching. Just finished a delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs and we sadly have to think about hitting the road for Clermont. Heather snuck out before any of us were up so we hope she's already caught a fish :)

Have a day :)

Sorry Patti.........I'll tone down the "toots" next time.... :floorrollin: Your niece is 25 and still getting child support?????????????? Man that is just wrong! Is she friendly with her Dad??? Is she giving him the money back?????????

Aren't there lawyers who do pro bono work in your area???? Or organizations that will do legal matters for a greatly reduced fee??? Check with DHS, or look in your phone book. Often times the very beginning of phone books have LOTS of great info in them.

Good morning, Pat and Don are on their way back to Clermont, we had a great time. Heather, hope you catch "the big one"...........
Lot of eating, and drinking this weekend    now it's all over, everyone's gone.

As Pat said, it's a beautiful morning. Sitting on the porch/V, we were entertained by several red tail hawks circling nearby and landing in trees near the house. This was a first.............unbelievable.

We're going to friends for dinner this evening, then time to start the diet. :fryingpan: :fryingpan: :fryingpan:

Hope everyone is doing well, missed chatting with you guys.

There are a few problems with this information. The biggest one being that lawyers don't issue child support court orders--judges do--usually family court judges. There are cases where child support will continue as long as the *child* (over 21) is in college. But that is not what you describe.

There is no such thing as not being able to contact the right parties...family court is not for lawyers only...you can contact it. Around here, we have *legal aide* for people who can't affort a lawyer. There should be something like that in you brother's local phone book. Maybe in the front, with the "helpful numbers".

It's not clear how social security is involved in this. Sounds like your brother is the one receiving it and paying child support from his monthly check. If that's the case, SSA would not have control over how he *spends* his money. This comes back to legal aide, and family court. As for the $1500 lawyer...the phone book is loaded with lawyers and auto mechanics. The differents in rates/fees from one to another is amazing (found out when my mother died and we needed simple paperwork done). Find another lawyer, of call family court directly. If they can't help, they can tell you who can. Good luck.

John you are right a lawyer didnt order this judgment, it was a judge in Lousiana..
When this was issued my brother was on disablity and the state of Lousiana paid his child support for him, now he is having to pay the state back..
Just yesterday, he got another letter from Social Security, stating that they were going to start this month holding $92.00 more from his check..He is still on disability and just draws a meger amount, lives in low income housing and barely
getting by..Ive paid for numerous calls to Lousiana trying to get some info as to what to do, and they told me 2 years ago to get a court order form (ive forgotten the name of it)and I cant even find the form anywhere...this is a never ending thing for him..
But maybe sooner or later it will work out..
Yes Dylans mom, he is very friendly with his daugher, stays in contact with her..but
at this time she is working and out on her own..Seems something is not fair here, Thanks for all of your input....patti

Good morning all. It is currently 48°F here in Tehachapi. At the bottom of the hill (okay, mountain) is an absolutely great Basque restaurant. Oh yummm. A few miles away from the restaurant is a nice little winery. I really haven't planned beyond that.

Perhaps I'll purchase a new cell phone while I'm in town. The old one is pretty beaten up. Not that I spend much time in areas with cell coverage, you understand, but it would be nice to have a reliable phone. I've been thinking about the Motorola RAZR, since it is small and is metal - not plastic. I like the USB connectivity and Bluetooth is handy. Verizon will give it to me virtually for free, so what the heck.

If I turn left when I hit the "big road" I'll be in the middle of nut country. Now some of you think that all of California is "nut country", but I'm talking about almonds and such straight from the farms and processing plant stores. A five pound can should be about right....

Safe journey Pat and Don.

John, green grass requires rain (or irrigation). Be careful what you wish for.

Karen, sorry to hear about impending weather.

Kate, you live in a beautiful state. If I was forced to settle down, NC would be at the top of my list. There is this cute little town -- Highlands, that I would choose. It is near Asheville and Franklin, in the mountains.

Jackie, watch out. There is likely more weather headed your way. Normally your weather comes from the west. I was getting some spritzes of rain driving up the mountain from the desert. I hope you are feeling better.

Not to :deadhorse: , but this still doesn't add up.
If your bro was on disabiility and receiving a grant to pay the child support, why whould the grant stop if he is still on disability? And grants don't usually need to be paid back *until* the person come into money in some way (sale of a house, for example). For almost an additional $100 a month, it looks like the case deserves further investigation. If there is one lawyer who could fix the situation for $1500, there is probably another one who could do the job for less. Good luck (again). And I will mind my own business now....

No John, you are helping me a lot..I have no idea why he got the letter
he did asking for another $92.00. and i know i sound ignorant but i wasnt
aware that is called a grant when the state pays for you..So much i dont know,
and so little i do know about this case..
They we divorced in 1995, therefore the childsupport started in 1995 and has
continued and still going..
I dont feel this is right, since the child is 25 yrs old and married..
Social Security cant do anything about this since it was issued by a judge
therefore a judge will have to stop it..
The lawyer wanting the $15,00 is the one his ex wife used to get this judgement..
Im so confused over this, and ive made so many phone calls its unreal, only to
get the run around..Maybe i need a lawyer, but was trying to avoid that if at all
possible, but i do need someone with some sense..thanks so much for your input..patti

patticake, this situation (married and 25) is just plain ridiculous.

I can't offer much advice, having never been through divorce or what-have-you, but I wish you and he the best!
