'morning, Folks!

It's a balmy 26F degrees at 1600 feet, which is nothing to complain about considering the forecast. Fresh snow on the ground, I'm not sure how much yet, but enough to get the plows out on the highway.

I'm in Word right now. I was up bright and early, but so where the tech folks at delhitel. They decided to do maintenance on the T1 connection-the main server to the internet. I would have been impressed with that explanation from the tech support guy, but I was too busy making (strong) coffee to care. As long as it wasn't my computer that was at fault-no problem! I don't know how long my connection will last, but I'm here now.

Today is my birthday, which I look at as another day closer to death, so no biggie! It's just a good excuse to see what Heather can do with a birthday cake. Chocolate, with lots of butter cream icing that I should eat anyway would be nice. Not much on the agenda today. And hopefully snow shoveling won't have to get added to it.

Yawl have a good day,

John

You do nice work for short notice.... I just saw an interesting typo in my first message.... "icing that I should eat anyway"... shuould be shouldn't, but I guess I just can't think like that where cake is concerned.

John

Geez, Karen, I typed 3 lines and you posted all that ... I must be getting slow...
As for the rose, I'll get around to explaining that one way or another, but, um, oy.... it's there for a reason.... Think Rose, with a capital R....

Happy birthday John.

And what a mouth watering cake that is Heather.

Only just above freezing here at an altitude of -15 feet.

Last year at this time we’ve had a 20ºC and you could here the daffodils pop out of the ground.

I WANT MY SPRING!!!!!! :banghead:

Happy Birthday, John! Hope it was a great one. Get out of that day closer to death thing, please. Seize the day :)

No pool for me today, Jackie. We took the aged parents touring - left at 10 and got home at 5. Took them to Blue Springs to see manatees and the dumb manatees have flown the coop. "It's not winter any more." said the snippy lady. Note to self - call ahead to check on manatee count (which they do keep) and go earlier in the "winter." So we regrouped and looped around to Sanford and Mt. Dora - where we were going to take them another day anyway. Two birds with one stone.

We had lunch in Mt. Dora at Pisces Rising - all must go there too. Right on the lake and wonderful. Then we took them on a horse and carriage ride through town. Then we took them to this German bakery in Yalaha where we are taking them again Saturday morning to hear a concert. I feel like Arthur Frommer. It as a nice day. They are sweet people.

Heather, you probably are sleeping in readiness for your trip, but travel safely and we will see you Tuesday

Hope you all had a day.

Pat, your post makes me home sick....I worked in ICU at Lake Medical Center in Leesburg for over four years(now a nursing home I believe) and CCU in Eustis for several years. Many wonderful memories and I left so many dear nursing friends behind when I moved back home to MN in Nov of 1987. Winters we could hardly keep up because of all of the snowbirds. For several months I would work 6 days a week...

Can't think about it or I become too sad...

Enjoy your wonderful weather..Andrea

Andrea,
There is an enormous Cancer Institute in Eustis (Waterman) that we passed today on 441. I doubt if it was there in '87 since it looks new. Has sail looking things like the Denver airport (if anyone has flown into Denver) and it's big. I never knew you lived here in Lake County. I doubt if you would recognize it. We really like this part of Florida.
