Oh, by the way, JohnM, I LOVE rummage sales. Show us what you got at this one, please!

I didn't get as much *stuff* as I did last year, maybe because I didn't need as much stuff. But I did get flatware for the TT, which was the main goal. Last year I got a few dozen everything except tea spoons. They didn't have many, but I guess I have enough tea spoons now. I also got a non-stick frying pan in mint condition, even the price sticker wouldn't stick! Three glass candle holders for the fire place mantle, and the biggest item, a 12 cup Mr. Coffee coffee maker with all the bells and whistles--never saw one that allows you to select the brewing strength. Now maybe I won't be tempted to make a second pot in the morning. Anyway....

I was on my way to (you know where) post a question in the cooks forum about the coffee maker, but since the brightest people are on CS, I might just as well post it here instead. The woman who donated the thing intorduced herself when she saw me with it. Told me it works, it was just too big for her and her husband. I didn't think I'd need instructions for a coffee maker (real men don't read instructions anyway) so I didn't even look for that. Now to the point. The part in the pic was on top of the filter basket. Not really attached, just there. I looked at the picture on the box, and I don't see that part. It's possible that the lady picked it up and put it in there even tho it doesn't belong to the coffee maker. If this thing does belong to the coffee maker, what does it do?????

For anyone who watches This Old House, think of this as What is it? BTW, that red lever moves from side to side in the groove.

John, I've had many Mr. Coffee machines and have no idea what your describing. Possibly, as you say she picked up this extra piece from somewhere else.

I bought a Cruisinart coffee maker, has a few extra pieces but I do know where they go. :whistle:

Make coffee in the morning, we'll let you know how it turns out. :)

Years ago my girlfriend and I went to garage sales, got some really great items I still have. My problem now is you have to get up early to find the "good stuff".

Good day all!!!!

Well, as Blkboots said, it's raining!!!! Posted Image

Chrissy, it has been 142 days without any rain. We took a drive to Goodyear yesterday to visit a cousin of Greg's. It was VERY windy, and the dust blowing around was just awful. Near whiteout conditions at some spots. I tried to convince our guests (Greg's brother and SIL) that it really HAS been warm here, but you couldn't prove that by the weather we had while they were here. :no: Only gonna be in the 50's today, and did I mention rainy?????? Of course by mid week its gonna be back in the 70's. When our visitors are back in Maine. :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Well, lots to catch up on, just wanted to say I was still alive!!!!! Oh, and its raining. :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Well so do I (now)! :P

The mystery part holds a water filter. At 6 / $14.99, I'll pass. Especially since I have a well, and don't need to have clorine removed from my water. Thanx for the reply, tho.

This is not a complaint, but it is very, very hot!!!! I went to the pool for about 45 minutes, but stayed in the water and came home dripping. Just got out of a dousing in the shower (in my suit.) Fantastic fan is losing some fantasy. Left to my own devices, I would have put on the air.

Thank God we are going out for dinner...but I have to get dressed.
All our northern kids are enjoying banner days - which is great.

See you later.

Hey, everyone, Chrissy! Pat! Jackie...JM thinks we are bright! :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

(Shhhh........ don't tell him the truth; we want him to stick around!)

It was another warm one here; looks like spring is here for sure. The snowdrops are blooming their little heads off, outside the front door. I got my first bug bite, and I washed the van, in jeans and a short-sleeved shirt! It is shining clean. I'll take Mom's to the car wash in the morning; she has a bunch of tickets for it.

All ready for my l'il sister's visit...will be posting some pictures.

Bright???????? US????? :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

And it is STILL raining!! This part of Arizona, apparently, doesn't handle all that rain after being so dry for so long. :faint: Roads are flooded, we have an 8' wide river running down the middle of the roads in the resort, and the dog area is under about 2 feet of water. Perhaps I can take Dylan swimming. :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

The resort manager said that this particular area of the valley, hasn't had measurable rain in over 200 days. The official measure is at the Phoenix airport.

Raw and damp. Swore I saw a few snowflakes. :biting: :biting: THAT IS JUST WRONG! :redcard: :redcard:

But shouldn't complain, we haven't really seen rain since we left Maine last May, AND it will be in the 70's again by mid week. :dance: :dance:

Jackie, get ready, the desert will burst into bloom in just a few weeks after this rain. How I wish I could see it in person, but you will have to be our eyes; I hope you'll put your nice camera to very good use!

Do not take Dylan swimming! Doc would not approve, and neither would Orson. Orson's pet lizard went swimming and they never saw him again....

Jackie,

Basketball - sport with round ball and 10 people running up and down a court trying to get said ball through the net.
SU = Syracuse University
Big East = one conference
'Cuse = SyraCUSE

It's not NASCAR, but it is a sport. The Big Dance is starting = NCAA championships.

I cannot believe it is cold and rainy when your family is there???? :redcard: :redcard:

Yes, cool weather while they were here. I insisted they bring bathing suits.....glad they brought fleece. :faint: Still warmer than Maine, well, except for today. Parts of the valley got snow! :biting: :biting: Snow on cactus, it is just freaky!
