Good Morning folks, I just looked back at yesterdays "Lunch post" from Heather...
Quote:

I started with a glass of pinot grigio; then a beautiful platter of seafood linguine ($14); a small pile of perfectly cooked linguine almost completely hidden under delicious cherrystone clams, mussels, big tender shrimp and poached fresh tomatoes and sprinkled with sliced poached garlic and shreds of fresh basil. Mom has a lovely slice of pate maison, with shredded cabbage and frisee salad and cornichons (tiny sour pickles). The breads are incredible in this place; they bring a huge basket of hot, homebaked rolls: sourdough, pumpernickel, sunflower seed, raisin, olive and soft, floury white rolls, with pretty little crocks of sweet butter.

A lot of people ordered the osso buco which was served with polenta, and enjoyed it very much. Others had panini of different types. Everyone was happy.

Feeling in a show-off mood, I ordered the mille-feuille with lavender cream ($6.50) for dessert and everyone had a clean fork to taste it. It is two big feathery-light and crispy bars of puff pastry with a pile of mascarpone cream on a lavender-flavored pool of custard sauce, decorated with a pile of fresh blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and candied violet, with a light snow of powdered sugar over all. The most gorgeous dessert! I think the prices are terrific, for such quality.

Can you tell I love this place? Oh, and the service was perfect.
....I can't even pronounce the stuff. Heather, you should be a food critc for the local paper, your description is awesome....sounds good, even though I don't know what the stuff is. Alright, feet hit the floor, time to go. :bolt:

Can you say pretzel? Yeah, I know, they don't look like pretzels, but they taste like pretzels, and they go good with coffee in the morning.

Coffee should be ready soon.....

'morning Folks,

Another warm day in the mountains of NY. 44F before 8 am. This is something, compared to last week. And I take back what I said the other day about mud...but it should only last a day or 2.

I haven't figured out yet what has to be done today, hopefully not to much. I'd like to finish reading Highways before the new set of magazines start coming, which will be soon.

Have a pretzel, and a good day,

John

Now John, those do look SO much better than your last attempt! :faint: I am sure they were tasty, but they resembled...well, better not....I think your yeast worked better this time.

In fact, I bet these look like the "garlic knots" Chrissy and Pat ate at Dominic's, the other night. That is sort of how I pictured them.

Keep practicing...one of these days you may have company!

Cloudy and drizzly this morning; going to take Mom to her check-up and go do a quick food shopping while she's there. My sister will be on her way from Nova Scotia tomorrow morning, and should be here before supper Sunday, with her son (14) AND Raven, the majestic and lovable standard poodle.

My chickens will have to be penned up; can't take a chance that Raven might think they are chew-toys...

I have started to pack the van; one week from right now, I should be well into Delaware!

Good Morning all............Should be in the low eighties today, too warm for me, but I shouldn't complain............

Love to wake up when someone has made breakfast. They do look like the garlic knots we had the other evening.

Still tired,   another late night over friends house. She has three horses and asked me to hang around while she fed them and cleaned the stalls. They live approx. 35-40 minutes northwest of Gainesville.
This has been good for me, keeps my mind from worrying.

Our daughter is running a race in Jacksonville this weekend, taking care of Remington. He's been a good boy, really has calmed down since boot camp.

Off to make a pot of coffee to go with breakfast I think JohnM drank the other pot.

Happy Friday. :)

LOL!

I looked thru all my cards, Wolfie, and none of them fit your situation. I think you'll have to make up something very original. Hey, maybe we should have a contest: best anniversary card for separated couple.

Or, maybe not...

We are back from our travels; it seems Mom has a cyst she has been telling nobody about. They can't do a mammo because of the shingles (too painful), so will be doing an ultrasound next week. Great; something new to worry about.

I suspect a conspiracy...EVERYBODY has something going on!

How about a twist on the well-known "vacation" theme:

"Having a wonderful time - glad you are there."

Knock wood, I don't think I have anything going on - other than the idiotic tree pollen.

Missed a call from Sharon - if you believe it the twins just had their sixth month checkup. :faint: All is well. Will have to call her back to get weight/height, etc...
Six months ago yesterday they were 3 lbs 4 oz and 3 lbs 3 oz. Where has the time gone?

That means Tess is five months old - five months ago she was 8 lbs 2 oz. I see that now as more of a enormous gap than I originally did. That's one's mind for you. Three pounds was "good" for 29 week old preemies. What a year!

Connor is one month old today. Can't wait to see them all!

Verging on hot inside, but lovely outside. I am not complaining. The Fantastic Fan does a great job.

Have a day:) See you tonight. (Snuck on and used some "anytime" minutes!)

Heather, sorry to hear Mom is having more issues. Always something.

Tomorrow I am up and off early to do the Red Deer Home show. A 12 hour shift plus 1 1/2 hour drive each way :faint:

I will see you all @ noon on Sun. I know the girls want me to go to a movie on Sun afternoon also. :spin:

Long day Karen especially when you're not feeling well. Try and find sometime this weekend to take care of yourself.

Heather, didn't your Mom have a mammogram not long ago or am I mistaken?
I forgot all about the shingles, very painful indeed. Give her our best and let us know what's going on.

I was out to dinner, just got home, going to put my jammies on. :)

Mom was supposed to have a mammo when the ER doc found a cyst or something that he thought was causing her chest pain. Then, when the shingles were diagnosed two days later, she cancelled the appointment. Her oncologist gave her holy what-for, for cancelling.

She had a fibroid removed about 5 years ago; this is probably the same thing, but still....

OOO, jammies sound good; me too! I am tired of these jeans. Too much tummy and too little jean. :floorrollin:
